Energetics also works with many other government and private sector clients, including the National Institute of Standards and Technology, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, the California Energy Commission, major U.S. utilities, national laboratories, trade associations, universities, and commercial manufacturers.


JOB SUMMARY:

Energetics is seeking an Engineer/Scientist/Chemist to support the Department of Energy's chemistry and chemical manufacturing R&D activities of the DOE Advanced Manufacturing Office (AMO). The Engineer/Scientist/Chemist will work in a highly collaborative atmosphere, interacting directly with government program managers. Currently this position can be based in our Washington, DC or Columbia, MD office, with remote telework options available.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Review and edit reports, talking points, articles, and presentations on subjects related to chemistry, chemical manufacturing, catalyst science, industrial energy efficiency, and decarbonization

  • Conduct technical merit review for R&D concept papers and proposals

  • Provide technical support and documentation for R&D program management activities

  • Work closely with EERE AMO program managers and staff in a fast-paced environment

  • Perform market and technology assessments; conduct technical, energy, environmental, and economic benefits analyses

  • Diligent and responsive

  • Developing and contributing to technical communications (reports, white papers, fact sheets, research summaries, briefings)

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.


MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Master's degree with 5 years of experience or a bachelor's degree with 8+ years of experience.

  • Technical expertise in chemistry, chemical manufacturing, decarbonization, catalyst science, sustainability, and industrial energy efficiency.

  • Effective analytical and written communication skills on highly technical subjects.

  • Strong interest in energy efficiency, carbon reduction and mitigation technologies, and clean energy

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; advanced analytical and Excel skills

  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, interpersonal, and written)

  • High level of self-motivation.

  • Demonstrated ability to excel working on self-managed tasks

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no restrictions, U.S. Citizen or Permanent US Resident.


PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:


  • Master's or PhD degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, industrial engineering, integrated science and technology, or a related field.

  • Familiarity with AMO's mission, technical goals and program activities

  • Familiarity and experience with advanced manufacturing technologies, particularly in the chemicals sector.

  • Demonstrated experience in energy analysis or consulting
