Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Manager, IT Business Solutions acts as a business partner to a defined areas of Exact Sciences' business by building internal relationships, developing a strong understanding of the business, and working with business stakeholders to define high-level objectives and requirements for technology initiatives.

The Manager, IT Business Solutions will help to drive, design, and implement business facing projects. This role will partner on recommendations for how to evolve the business support systems to meet the growth demands the company continues to experience. This is a cross-functional role that will collaborate with peer groups across functions and is the point person for technology leadership to business stakeholders.

This role will lead and be accountable for the performance of a team to appropriately deliver solutions that provide the business units with a core advantage to managing its business.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Partner with assigned business domains to drive our business and technology roadmaps forward.
  • Responsible for business relationships, application performance, and the identification and delivery of new and existing application services to meet the business units (BU) known and emerging needs.

  • Build, manage, and deliver a portfolio of low to medium complexity technology programs and projects that improve business process capabilities.

  • Provide input into business technology roadmaps through working with the senior management of the business.

  • Partner with stakeholders to define and author high-level requirements.

  • Participate in and evaluate feasibility studies, project scoping, and project planning for business applications projects.

  • Define, plan, and direct the execution of technical projects, while balancing the competing demands of scope, time, cost, quality, resources, and risk.

  • Establish priorities and schedules for business application projects.

  • Oversee project execution and actively manage the project portfolio.

  • Manage relationships with various internal and external technology and business partners to achieve project objectives within the project portfolio.

  • Conduct risk management planning, identification, analysis, and monitoring on projects.

  • Manage enhancements of the related business systems and drive operational efficiencies across processes and technology that support the business operations.

  • Develop schedules, budgets, risk management plans, quality goals, and lead the team to success.

  • Participate in design and usability reviews to ensure alignment with stakeholders.

  • Maintain detailed program metrics around initiative goals.

  • Drive continuous improvements in all aspects of the process.

  • Drive tough decision making while balancing business goals, technical implications, and timelines.

  • Formulate, organize, and monitor inter-connected projects.

  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.

  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.

  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.

  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.

  • Apply strong change management and issue resolution skills with the ability to deliver results.

  • Ability to manage and get work done from project managers, business analysts, and developers.

  • Basic understanding of business strategy.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • Ability and means to travel between local Exact Sciences locations.

  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in field as outlined in the essential duties; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's Degree.

  • 8+ years of professional information technology or business experience.

  • 6+ years of experience supporting technical projects and programs for business and commercial operations.

  • 2+ years direct or indirect management experience.

  • Demonstrated ability to grasp business needs and requirements.

  • Demonstrated ability to grasp and apply complex technical concepts.

  • Demonstrated progressive achievement and growth in IT and business domains.

  • Professional working knowledge of technology risks and opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

  • Demonstrated successful project delivery involving complex business workflows or system architectures.

  • Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of program management.

  • Strong working knowledge with software development lifecycle (SDLC) project management methodologies.

  • Professional working knowledge of a variety of software and hardware solutions, multi-vendor environments, and hybrid environment of on premise, co-located, and cloud-based services.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
