Job Description:


The Quality Inspector will inspect product quality within the plant, ensuring that product inspections and quality assurance procedures are carried through as defined in the Hollander Quality Manual and meet the standards required by our customers and the end-user.

All Hollander Associates are expected to support Operations by working efficiently and maintaining a high level of productivity in order for the organization to meet and exceed customer demands.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES


  • Ensure the guidelines, procedures, specifications and reports in the Quality Manual are executed at the plant level and work with Quality Manager/Supervisor to submit suggested improvements to the Corporate Quality Department as needed.

  • Ensure that quality standards are maintained and communicated to all plant employees.

  • Train associates as needed.

  • Participate in weekly Quality Meetings and follow up on action items and improvements agreed upon.

  • Assist the Quality Manager/Supervisor to maintain and provide access to Quality reference materials as needed, consisting of component standards, design folders, customer specifications, AQL sampling, defect guides, etc.

  • Monitor new item BOM specifications and revisions for missing and/or incorrect components, and for unclear or conflicting item master instructions, and report to Quality Supervisor to resolve with corporate Specifications group. Communicate changes to employees and supervisors.

  • Maintain new start up approval process and ensure quick resolution of all nonconformances to specifications

  • Monitor component item substitutions and ensure clear rework/repair instructions are implemented to modify substitute materials to meet customer and compliance requirements.

  • Report component and fiber quality issues at plant level and report defects over allowable specifications to Quality Manager/Supervisor. Maintain control of nonconforming materials and inspection and rework/repair labor, and report details of quality issues in log if assigned to do so by the Quality Supervisor.

  • Enter data for daily Receiving, Work-In-Process, and Finished Goods Inspections in Oracle or on other forms as per quality procedures. Follow record retention guidelines provided by Corporate. Correct data entry errors as needed to ensure data is useful for further analysis.

  • Be prepared for short notice assignments related to quality or other projects.

  • Review quality inspection data and take action with production team associates to make the necessary changes to improve product and process controls.

  • Report chronic quality control issues to Quality Manager/Supervisor for follow-up with plant management team.

  • Understand objectives and work with plant management and employees in a professional manner to achieve goals and continuously improve quality.

  • Comply with company and safety guidelines.

  • Promote a Lean Manufacturing Culture

All Hollander associates play a crucial role in meeting our customer requirements and are expected after initial training to perform with minimal supervision. Associates may be asked to assist with other duties when needed to meet those requirements.

REQUIREMENTS, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS


  • Must be able to make qualified decisions and accept responsibility for decisions made.

  • Experience in quality assurance for production manufacturing is ideal. Experience in the textile environment is preferred.

  • Must be able to perform inspections in all areas of production.

  • Have good vision and above average or superior color perception.

  • Must have basic math skills.

  • Must be able to use a tape measure accurately and follow detail instructions.

  • Knowledge of sewing is a plus. Must be able to identify sewing defects and causes.

  • Display the need for thoroughness and attention to detail.

  • Have excellent communication skills (verbal and written). Also possess the ability to communicate effectively with plant management and employees.

  • Computer skills to include competent working with Outlook, Excel and Word is mandatory

  • Education: High School or equivalent

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/French) may be required, dependent on plant location.

Associates in this role will spend over 50% of the day in a stationary position while using a computer or other devices. Good manual dexterity is required to use common office equipment (e.g., computers, mobile devices, calculators, copiers, scanners). There is also an occasional need to position self to maintain equipment, including under tables and desks as well as the ability to move about the office and warehouse. There is also an occasional need to bend, stoop and lift (typically less than 10 lbs). as well as frequently touch and feel. The ability to hear and see with vision abilities in close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus is necessary.

Associates in this role spend the majority of day in a climate-controlled office environment with a low to moderate noise level.

When in the production / warehouse areas, the Associate may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate however there may be areas designated as Hearing Protection required and provided earplugs are mandatory in those areas.

There may be areas of the plant and warehouse areas where exposure to heat and/or cold can occur. The Associate may be exposed to dust and floating particles used in the manufacturing, storage and inventory of raw materials and finished goods.
