Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Manager, Contracts will lead the Operations contracting team through contracting and contract management. This role will partner with operations, functional business teams and the Company's legal department and related functions (e.g., compliance, data privacy, corporate governance) on projects and cross-functional initiatives as necessary to achieve the Company's operational, legal, and business objectives. As a leader of the Contracts team, the Manager, Contracts will also actively monitor and participate in strategic initiatives throughout the company to build better governance for contracts and processing efforts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Partner and assist in efforts to improve current contracting processes and identify new processes that improve overall operational effectiveness.
  • Respond and assist to resolve escalated contracting issues presented.

  • Guide team through transformative process changes as it relates to contracting process and procedure.

  • Collaborate with functional business partners to ensure the proper strategies are implemented to best support company growth and operational models.

  • Present to Company leadership to ensure they understand contracting concepts and process.

  • Manage compliance to Company contracting policies.

  • Ensure current state documentation and Companywide training for contracting is adequate and updated.

  • Draft, review and negotiate contracts as assigned.

  • Provide ad-hoc project management support, including project status reporting including collecting and reporting on key performance indicators and metrics.

  • Supervise staff; including, but not limited to, organize and prioritize work, write/conduct performance reviews, train/develop, and manage work performance.

  • Communicate goals clearly to employees to ensure understanding and success in achieving them.

  • Motivate and inspire employees to do their best work through coaching.

  • Maintain morale and support employee engagement initiatives.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong communicator with ability to maintain open communication with internal employees and third parties.

  • Partner closely with leadership and all levels of the company and feel comfortable communicating policy guidance.

  • Able to integrate and apply feedback in a professional manner.

  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to travel between local Exact Sciences Madison locations.

  • Ability to travel 10% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Legal Studies or a field as outlined in the essential duties.

  • 8+ years of contracting experience.

  • 2+ years of experience directly leading teams.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications


  • 10+ years of contracting experience.

  • Prior experience in the Biotech or Life Sciences industry.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change.

  • Knowledge of Conga CLM System.
