Legal Organization
Legal is responsible for the provision of legal services to J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. The group consists of approximately 2,000 employees globally and has an internal operating expense budget of approx. $600M. Legal is under Corporate Sector being organized by Line of Business teams that conform to the Firm's main lines of business and corporate staff areas. This structure provides the means for Legal to communicate legal and regulatory changes to the business lines, and for the business lines to communicate business developments that have legal or regulatory implications to Legal in a timely manner.
Position Summary
Legal Finance & Business Management is seeking a junior business manager to join the CB Legal and AWM Legal Business Management team, providing financial, administrative and operational support to the departments. The position will report to the Senior Business Manager and will be based in New York, NY.
Key Responsibilities


  • Lead financial and reporting activities, including:

    • Monthly financial outlook and headcount tracking
    • External law firm expenses
    • Annual budget plan
    • Annual allocations review
    • Executive Management Report (EMR), including leading review with Senior Business Manager
    • Quarterly Practice Group EMRs
    • Maintain financial hierarchy and manage cost center creation

  • Assist with materials for Legal quarterly business reviews
  • Prepare metrics scorecards for LOB quarterly reviews
  • Assist with agendas, meeting materials, presentations, town halls, and offsites
  • Assist with Legal Training, Technology, Strategic, and Control programs and initiatives
  • Engage in special projects as needed to support Legal Finance and CB Legal / AWM Legal

Qualifications


  • Bachelors degree required
  • 5+ years of experience working in financial services
  • Business management and/or finance experience preferred
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills are required to respond to questions in a concise, understandable, informative and timely manner
  • Thoughtful analytical skills to identify trends and outliers, research root cause, and draw conclusions
  • Superior technical knowledge and mastery of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Attention to detail is paramount
  • Self-starter with consummate work ethic who can work independently, multi-task, prioritize activities to meet goals, and manage challenging deadlines under pressure
