Requisition Summary:



Kenworth Truck Company is establishing an engineering team whose responsibilities will include integration of Power Electronics Hardware into heavy-duty PACCAR trucks. Members of this team will be part of a greater effort to bring next generation electrified vehicles to PACCAR's flagship truck models. Applicants should be knowledgeable about high voltage componentry integration into electrified vehicles and motivated by the contribution to transportation technology advancement.



This position is within the Electrical Engineering department at Kenworth Truck Company and involves full design ownership from requirements specification to production launch. You will interface with teams responsible for battery and fuel cell, thermal management componentry, and powertrain integration on a regulate basis. Being a part of this cross-functional and global team of hardware and software engineers should be a welcome challenge for you, as its part of an effort to expand and improve upon PACCAR's fleet of zero emissions vehicles.



Job Responsibilities:





  • Define vehicle requirements to integrate an electrified powertrain into Kenworth trucks that meet demanding customer expectations.

  • Perform activities to transform requirements into production-ready vehicle designs.

  • Drive chosen Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) partners to meet program schedules and milestones.

  • Integrate systems into Kenworth truck models including packaging, system compatibility, and High Voltage (HV) wiring.

  • Help develop new Corporate Standards appropriate for HV vehicles.

  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies, tools, and methods through interaction with universities, national labs and suppliers.

  • Coordinate efforts with teams at other PACCAR divisions to ensure a successful global launch of BEVs. This includes interfacing with PACCAR Technical Center, Peterbilt, DAF and PACCAR purchasing.

  • Communicate results and progress to team and stakeholders on a regular basis and facilitate technology transfer between PACCAR divisions



Qualifications desired:




  • Strong interest in working on next generation electrified vehicles.

  • Five years of experience in electric powertrain development/R&D.

  • In-depth experience with electric powertrain controls and or HV system integration including HV wiring design.

  • Background in system-level requirements development, component selection, integration, performance, and validation.

  • Experience with Mentor's Capital electrical system and wiring toolsets.

  • Experience with 3D CAD, preferably PTC's Creo.

  • Experience as a contributor to global, cross-functional technical project teams.

  • Previously demonstrated resourcefulness, strong technical knowledge, analytical capability, and communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, be a self-starter and have demonstrated high levels of initiative and innovation.

  • Travel up to 15% possible.



Education Required:



Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Engineering Physics. Master's degree in similar fields and Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
