QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:


  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and six months to one-year position-related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:


  • Ability to read, write, and speak and understand in English, in order to interpret documents such as specifications, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:


  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentages.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:


  • Required: Forklift Certification

PURPOSE:

To provide production with the correct variety/blend of raw product to meet customer specifications and maintain production flow.

SUMMARY:

Operate the Forklift, while ensuring appropriate fruit is introduced into the system per customer specifications; place bins of apples on the in feed conveyor of the Auto Dump System for processing; maintain production flow; keep empty bins organized and stacked for disposition; and demonstrate teamwork. Organize fruit variety by row and complete required paperwork.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. All of the following are to be performed while adhering to Tree Top operational policies, safety rules, procedures and good manufacturing practices.

It is the responsibility of every employee at Tree Top Inc. to report food safety and food quality problems or risks to personnel with the authority to initiate action against these said possible risks. The Organization chart indicated key personnel with the authority to take action.

Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.

  1. Operate the Forklift:


  1. Ensure adequate supply of fruit is placed on in feed conveyor.

  2. Ensure proper blend of apples is placed on in feed conveyor.

  3. Retrieve designated fruit from storage area and put into production - keeping production full at all times.

  4. Remove full Peewee bins and replace with empty bins.

  5. Be able to weigh fruit on scales and use scales in scale house.

  6. Check all bins for stickers and rotting fruit, foreign material and notify Supervisor.

  7. Operate the flipper lift as required.

  8. Remove empty bins from production area.

  9. Stack bins in a straight row, between yellow lines.


  1. Communicate:


  1. Receive from Process Operator and/or Supervisor changes in variety blends

  2. Inform oncoming shift of what fruit is being ran for production and any raw product issues for tickets in production

  3. Receive information from Supervisor, Process Operator or Raw Fruit Coordinator on blend requirements

  4. Coordinate with Raw Fruit Coordinator and/or scale house Supervisor and co- workers on where to stack Peewees.

  5. Discuss process needs with co-workers.

  6. Communicate any damage done to property or forklift to Supervisor immediately


  1. Maintain Forklift:


  1. Complete forklift check list before the start of each shift for every forklift that is driven by the employee.

  2. Check to ensure proper fluid levels fill as required.

  3. Report serious problems to Supervisor immediately.

  4. Maintain propane tank level - should be full at end of shift.


  1. Complete Paperwork:


  1. Count bins hour before shift ends and accurately split tickets for tonnage use.

  2. Document tonnage used and Peewees made in a timely manner.

  3. Weigh peewees - hour before shift end.

  4. Manifest peewee bulk tickets.


  1. Keep Empty Bins Organized:


  1. Stack bins, segregated by grower.

  2. Nest appropriate grower bins.

  3. Place bins in proper rows in designated sections.

  4. Keep production area free of debris.

  5. Shovel spilled apples off of the ground.


  1. Industrial and Food Safety:


  1. Follow proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures/standards

  2. Follow all Haz-Com and Chemical Safety procedures/standards

  3. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practice procedures and standards

  4. Follow forklift safety protocols

  5. Follow all Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point procedure/standards

  6. Wear required and appropriate Personal Protective Equipment at all times

  7. Identify and address all unsafe conditions and unsafe acts - Report to supervisor on shift

  8. Follow all other applicable safety rules and regulations.
