About The Position

The Relay Maintenance Engineering provides Support and Technical resource assistance to the Substation Relay Superintendent and their reports, regarding operation of the Substation and Relay equipment and system.

Successful candidate selected may be located in any of these Ameren Offices: Belleville IL, Peoria IL, Champaign IL, or Mattoon IL. Position requires office and field work.

Key responsibilities include:

• Review and investigate system operations to determine necessary corrective actions.


• Coordinate testing program to assure necessary PM tasks are completed as required by internal and external requirements.


• Provide support to relay maintenance personnel for commissioning and checkout of new relay systems and equipment.


• Prepare minor design changes to settings or systems as needed to support ongoing system operation.


• Support maintenance and replacement of protective relaying, DMEs, RTUs, etc. throughout the state.


• Provide support on outage events as necessary or requested outside of normal working hours.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university required. Professional Engineer License or active commitment to obtain one also required. Two or more years of utility experience with specific knowledge of protective relaying or substation and power plant control schemes preferred.

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Proficiency in Windows-based software such as Access and Excel preferred. Good analytical, decision-making, communication, and human relations skills.
