SJS Executives, LLC (SJS), also doing business as SJS Industrial, is currently seeking a reliable, safety conscious, experienced Small Craft Maintenance Support Technician to work full time for SJS in Port Hueneme, California to help support operations at a Navy Underwater Construction Team.

SJS is a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) with 250 employees coast to coast and a headquarters in Virginia Beach, Virginia; it specializes in professional services to support federal and military organizations.

The Small Craft Maintenance Support Technician for the US Navy in Port Hueneme, will be responsible for maintenance and small boat repair, troubleshooting, equipment maintenance scheduling and tracking, repair parts ordering and tracking, data entry, budget analysis and tracking specific to maintenance, and provide coxswain training as a Subject Matter Expert for the Command.

The Maintenance Technician must possess these key qualifications to be eligible for this job:

  • 6+ years of Outboard engine mechanical experience; and
  • A Secret Clearance; and
  • Knowledge and experience utilizing SKED 3.2, OMMS-NG, MS Office which includes MS Word, MS Excel, and Power Point.
  • Hold a USCG Captains License or military equivalent at a minimum POIC of Small Craft
  • This person will enjoy collaborating with a team and know how to conduct themselves with decorum, as they will be working on a property owned by the United States federal government and interacting with federal government employees and service members.

    Pay Range for this position:

    Hourly Pay $27.33 - $30.92

    Health & Welfare Pay: $4.23 per hour

    Total Compensation per hour: $31.56 - $35.15

    Responsibilities


    • Have knowledge of major assemblies and systems of marine craft and trailers.

    • Assist/augment existing organic maintenance in the repair, preventative maintenance, overhauling, and rebuilding of marine craft, systems and trailers.

    • Properly use diagnostics and testing equipment to spot check, troubleshoot and identify deficiencies.

    • Interpret technical manuals, illustrations, specifications, diagrams and schematics.

    • Support small boat operational testing to include underway/waterborne operations.

    • Assist in training and familiarization of personnel on small craft operations and maintenance.

    • Possess proficient knowledge and skill of corrosion control and prevention, small craft fiberglass repair, electrical systems, power transmissions, outboard marine gas engine maintenance and repair, marine cooling systems, fuel systems, spark plug ignition engines (specifically two and four cycle gas outboard engines), and boat trailer systems.

    • Utilize Microsoft Office, SKED 3.2 and OMMS-NG programs for inventory control, record keeping, and parts ordering.

    • Maintain an NMCI account using a Common Access Card on NIPR.

    • Participation and preparation for certifying or inspection events to include, ISIC and TYCOM lead 3M Inspection and INSURV events.

    • The main inventory of equipment that will be expected to be maintained:


      • 26DS Boats w/ Mercury 300HP SeaPro engines

      • 9MDS boat w/ Mercury 250HP Verado engines

      • 7MRX boat w/ Mercury 150HP Verado and EFI engines

      • Evinrude 30HP outboard engines

      • Evinrude 5HP outboard Engines



    Qualifications


    • COVID-19 Vaccination completed. Must maintain certification of vaccination form, and always carry a signed copy when on shift.

    • 6+ years of Outboard engine mechanical experience to include formal small outboard engine repair.

    • Knowledge and experience utilizing SKED 3.2, OMMS-NG, MS Office which includes MS Word, MS Excel, and Power Point.

    • Hold a USCG Captains License or military equivalent at a minimum POIC of Small Craft

    • The work will tend the employee to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and work in tiring and uncomfortable positions. The work requires frequently lifting and carrying of fools, equipment, and parts that weigh up to 20 pounds and, less often, up to 40 pounds. The work is performed both inside and outside.

    • U.S. citizenship. Proof of US Citizenship will be required.

    • Secret Clearance. Must be able to successfully pass a drug test and a thorough background check for access onto a military installation; please note the background check for this position extends past 7 years, in conformance with federal law and US Department of Justice guidelines for work on a military installation.
