The Learning & Development Training Assistant is responsible for the quality of the on-boarding process and continued opportunities for HORNE Team Members. This position will create a welcoming experience along with maintaining communication with our new hired team members.  This role will work closely with other members of the Firm Focus Areas, the People Organization and Development team to support company programs and individual Team Member development.  The ideal candidate is a passionate advocate for learners, collaborates with all Focus Areas, is energized by a fast-paced, environment, has high attention to detail and follow up while being dedicated to delivering a quality learning. 


Key Responsibilities


The Learning & Development Assistant job duties also include, but are not limited to:



  • Coordinate the creation of individualized learning plans & schedules based on new Team Member roles. 

  • Create continual training class schedules to ensure all employees stay up-to-date on all new process and procedures associated with their role.

  • Provide communication to trainees and management informing each employee scheduled of their upcoming training.

  • Have basic facilitation skills for new Team Member orientation program and other learning events.

  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems.

  • Assist in class creation, scheduled offerings, registrations, and reporting.

  • Ensure all training resources are up to date.

  • Assists with creating content for structured training events (both live and online) and learning plans.

  • Assists in documenting and maintaining guideline resources for learning events.

  • Assist the Learning & Development team with logistics of new projects and initiatives in the Focus Areas.

  • Create partnerships across various Firm areas.

  • Assist in Firm wide learning events.

  • Follow and in some cases, create the process to ensure all new Team Members are set up for success by right having the right tools and access.

  • Holistic understanding of the learner’s perspective.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects at the same time.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities



  • Generates regular reporting to track and monitor course, program and regulatory completions.

  • Familiarity with Learning Management System.

  • Advanced skills in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.

  • Self-starter who takes direction well, asks clarifying questions and drives work to completion.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.

  • Partner with internal stake holders regarding employee training needs.

  • Ability to work with and communicate with all levels of leadership within the Firm.

  • Strong attention to detail.

Required Qualifications



  • High school degree or equivalent.

  • Minimum 2-3 year of relevant experience.

  • Self-starter who takes direction well, asks clarifying questions, and drives work to completion.

  • Demonstrated strong instructional and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated passion for delivering quality programs and training.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information.

  • Ability to facilitate/present basic training content.

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative to improve Team Member learning & development experience.

  • Proven ability to work with all levels of Teams and Leadership, partner and communicate positively and effectively.

  • Detail oriented team player with excellent follow-through.

  • Demonstrated computer proficiency within a Windows environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 

  • Proven ability to multi-task.
