The IT Technical Writer is responsible for clearly communicating information technology content concisely at an appropriate level to a broad audience. The Technical Writer continuously looks to improve their own skills and contribute to improving company processes. Must be proactive, highly organized, proficient in time management, dependable and have the ability to work independently in a high paced, dynamic environment.

  • Identify and assess IT technical documentation needs across all business units

  • Develop, organize, and evaluate technical documentation, which may include training materials related to the use of computers, computer systems, software applications (including ERP), mobile phones or other technical products

  • Develop documentation on policies, procedures, and processes for internal training and end-users outreach

  • Document common issues, resolution steps, and self-help articles for internal use and end-user self-guided solutions

  • Use photographs, drawings, diagrams, animation, and charts to increase users' understanding

  • Convert and/or write documents as Knowledge Based Articles, End User Support

  • Provide standardized written procedures, checklists and logic flow charts for Enterprise processes and common tasks

  • Assist IT department with project documentation as needed

  • Develop and maintain training manuals, FAQ libraries, templates, forms or other documentation

  • Develop application job aids by identifying information needs

  • Collaborate with authors, assigned stakeholders, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gain better understanding of subject matter

  • Edit documents to ensure compliance with style, design, layout, specification, and grammar and spelling requirements

  • Maintain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Regular and predictable attendance

  • Essential functions of this position are to be performed at a Company-designated office or field location

  • Understand and comply with the Company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and other industry-specific professional and ethical conduct standards, if applicable






Job Requirements


Qualifications


  • Minimum 2 years of technical editing experience is required

  • Experience creating and delivering written instructions and manuals

  • Previous technology writing experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Communications, Business Administration or similar field; combination of education and experience considered in lieu of degree

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities


  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a technically evolving, multi-faceted environment

  • Strong command of language, grammar, copywriting and editing

  • Ability to create and deliver technical documents

  • Familiar with Microsoft Style Guide

  • Ability to communicate with management and all levels within the company to meet goals

  • Ability to communicate concepts in simple, concise, logical manner so readers can absorb and retain

  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 suite required

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to independently manage projects

  • Familiarity with IT troubleshooting workflow and methodology

  • Passion for learning and mastering complex system functionality

  • Ability to travel occasionally as business needs require

Employee Compensation & Benefits



  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience ($65,000 - $80,000). Weekly pay via direct deposit. Posted salary ranges are made in good faith. MYR Group reserves the right to adjust ranges depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
