Job Description:

Manages the implementation and delivery of information management solutions that support PPO Claims Operations Reporting for Professional, Hospital and Dental claim systems. Activities includes the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of claims-related data sources and processes to allow claims report analysts to exchange consistent and accurate information between the Claims department and its business partners.  

Manages assignments and activities of analytical reporting staff of professionals. Directs and manages data analysis to achieve strategic goals, recommending enhancements to current business reporting  structures and/or operations to improve performance

Works with the Director to develop and implement control report and Visio workflows that ensure all control objectives are obtained . Manages the generation of  queries using Business Objects/Cognos, ACL and Access to support exception reduction initiative as well as other departmental & corporate projects

Manages the development of  monthly, quarterly and annual Executive summaries, detailing performance, initiatives and overall departmental progress. Validates and analyzes Corporate Executive reports, prior to distribution to Senior Leadership.

Maintains the Claims component of the Corporate Data Warehouse to ensure that it is always a current, accurate, and comprehensive source of Claims information available to analysts throughout the PPO community

Evaluates information needs and implement appropriate database search mechanisms against a multi-dimensional data warehouse and other electronic sources of patient, provider, and medical data

Assists business partners in the identification and interpretation of Claims related information residing in the corporate data warehouse.  Coordinates the authoring of documentation for all packaged reports and software applications developed in-house

Identifies and proposes short term goals and participate in the long term evolvement of the Claims Reporting unit; assists in the development of internal and external workflows that involve handling routine data analysis requests

Works in conjunction with BTS and IT in matters relating to Professional  & Facility system reporting. Partner with these support areas in developing criteria to support request from Attorney General, Actuarial and Finance.


  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Effective communication of technical IT-related concepts to individuals with non-technical backgrounds

  • Ability to motivate team members in a stressful environment

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Resourcefulness and creativity under tight deadlines

  • Excellent written communication skills


  • Minimum four years experience in a health care environment or eight years experience in the role of Senior Systems

   Analyst/Programmer in a health care environment with a background in claims processing procedures


  • Proficiency in relational database concepts and the use of Structured Query Language (SQL)

  • Expertise in using the data manipulation and reporting functionality of common information management software including

   Infomaker, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Cognos Impromptu and Query, and Crystal Reports
