Job Description:

Power & Controls Engineer VI - Chicago, IL - Req# 2142-07

C&I is seeking a Power & Controls Engineer Lead(Controls/Instrument) with 10 plus years experience in power or instrument engineering to join our team.  As we grow our business opportunities, we are looking to expand our capabilities in controls system design and programming.  Required skills include leading a multi-discipline project team, developing P&IDs, creating typical electrical design documents, designing control systems, designing control panels, field wiring and devices, instrumentation sizing and specification, PLC programming (various platforms) operator interface design and programming (various platforms), working knowledge of the National electrical Code (NEC), and system startup and commissioning.  Responsibilities include managing to project schedules and budgets, and planning work for support staff.  

Experience in chemical, refinery, or F&B industries for new and retrofit projects is required.

Experience with SI (formerly SPI, Intools) and CAD software packages is preferred.

PE is strongly preferred.

Technology – Experience with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, and word processing and spreadsheet applications.

Satisfactory performance of this position will require:

Travel to and from job site that could exceed the normal work day. Occasionally working in an operating industrial plant including extended on-site construction and start-up support.

Must comply with drug-free workplace requirements, background screening, and obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) 

Perform work in a safe manner in accordance with C&I and client requirements.

Job qualifications are generally obtained from the following:

Graduation with a Bachelor's degree or higher from a four-year ABET accredited engineering program; PE license is a plus. .

Related work experience preparing construction documents in a multi-discipline engineering environment demonstrating a progressive increase in responsibility and technical difficulty of work;
