Kleinfelder is seeking a Water Resources Engineer to join our growing southeast design engineering team. Duties include hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater system design and floodplain studies. This position will participate in the technical execution of projects including stormwater modeling and design, preparing engineering reports, and environmental permitting. The successful candidate will interact with PMs, senior operations and technical staff and provide guidance for task management of entry level professionals. The water resources engineer will provide technical engineering services for governmental, commercial, and surface mining projects. In addition to technical knowledge, the position demands excellent written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with technical and non-technical audiences effectively. This position requires a high degree of professionalism and technical expertise. What you"ll be doing:
Perform hydrologic, hydraulic, and floodplain engineering studies
Provide erosion control design for commercial and industrial clients
Prepare engineering reports and studies detailing the approach and results of technical analyses
Preparation of Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) and Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) Plans
Evaluate design alternatives to solve stormwater issues and help identify constructability and site-specific challenges
Support teams with compliance with project technical requirements and design constraints
Participate and provide guidance in the conceptual development of site designs and aid in the organization, scheduling, and implementation of the designs
Create and maintain project documentation related to project design and development
Communicate with project development and project management teams to coordinate design requirements and scheduling
Provide consulting expertise to clients to address immediate needs and long-term strategies
What you"ll need to know:
Extensive experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software such as Army Corps of Engineers" Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) programs, HydroCAD, SWMM and Autodesk products
Experience with GIS and AutoCAD drafting software, including 3D and Spatial Analyst extensions
Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple projects and tasks
Must be able to work independently on assigned tasks with minimal supervision

Position Requirements:
Three to Six (3-6) years of experience in water resources modeling, stormwater management systems, erosion control design and environmental permitting
Knowledge of ArcMap/GIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Education Requirements:
B.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering from an accredited institution or acceptable equivalent
Professional Engineering license or ability to obtain within 6 months
