Summary/Objective:

Lippert is developing a new digital service to improve the most challenging parts of the RV experience. We are searching for an experienced, senior-level content strategist who is passionate about making technical documentation accessible, engaging and easy to use. This role will guide technical writers in the adaptation of support documents into interactive instructional how-to and troubleshooting content, advocating for the needs of the consumer while ensuring technical accuracy and compliance.


To accomplish this, the technical content strategist will parse and map new and existing material to provide ease of understanding and direction for technical writers; synthesize data from consumer research teams and industry sources to prioritize content development; and help ensure content is structured and tagged correctly. The technical content strategist will also work with writers, engineers and technicians to identify where consumers will need basic background knowledge outside of technical documentation and provide direction and support to fill those gaps to other content teams within the organization.

To be successful, you will promote collaboration between technical and creative stakeholders; direct content writers in creating copy that is accessible & educational, consistent and concise; be resourceful and curious when encountering gaps in documentation; and be relentless in your pursuit of correct information to ensure that technical quality standards remain high. The best candidates will be equipped with experience optimizing and scaling content production and processes within an organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Gathers, catalogs, and indexes relevant material - manuals, video tutorials, images, etc.

  • Creates content briefs for technical writers including objectives, outlines, and appropriate level of skill and detail for audience

  • Reviews and validate technical writers' content for accuracy

  • Collaborates across digital teams to help create and maintain appropriate content models, taxonomy, metadata, and structured data for discoverability

  • Collaborates with UX as a user advocate in content design, execution and research to surface unmet content needs

  • Helps to establish, prioritize and maintain content governance plans and a full content development calendar

  • Plans content with legal and compliance requirements in mind

  • Optimizing these processes and content production for scale

  • Collaborates with and supports other teams in developing content to fill gaps in basic technical learning

  • Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail

  • Reviews manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment/ parts

  • Reviews published materials (to also include videos, labels, and webpages) and recommends revisions or change in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding

  • May maintain records and files of work and revisions

  • May select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material and increase users' understanding

  • Must travel locally to various plants

Working Conditions:


  • Primarily working indoors, office environment.

  • May sit for several hours at a time.

  • Prolonged exposure to computer screens.

  • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.

Qualifications:


  • Strong technical aptitude, preferably in LCI parts and RV applications

  • 5+ years of experience as a senior or lead Content Strategist (ideally Backend Content Strategist), Instructional Designer, Technical Writer, Information Architect, or similar role

  • Ability to interpret and apply data and recommendations from web analytics as well as qualitative and quantitative consumer research

  • Demonstrated ability to translate highly technical information, such as descriptions of Coach parts/ equipment, into plain language, such as FAQs, product demos, tutorials, or other related communications

  • Ability to utilize all available resources including co-workers

  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude at all times

  • Demonstrate experience in sequential processing and utilizing multiple software programs

  • Ability to assess and evaluate the work of technicians

  • Ability to adhere to company policies and procedures

  • Ability to reflect LCI core values in both customer interaction and the interaction of co-workers

  • Experience with instructional design and/or education technology is a plus

Supervisory Responsibility:

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands:

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time salary position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.
