Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. The Charlottesville, VA office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Lab Technician to join our growing practice. Students looking for internship experience, part-time applicants, and full-time applicants should apply. We request a minimum of 8 hours per week.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performing geotechnical testing in our Soil Laboratory


• Performing cleaning and maintenance in our Soil Laboratory

Responsibilities will depend on Schnabel’s workload.  The successful candidate may also have the opportunity to gain field work experience in our Construction Phase, Design Phase and Environmental Services departments. Our professional staff will assist in developing a fundamental understanding of the Geotechnical Engineering industry.

Required Skills/Experience:

• Current enrollment in an Engineering, Environmental or Science related Bachelor’s degree program


• Excellent oral and written communication skills


• Good organizational skills and the ability to multi-task


• Positive attitude


• Strong work ethic and a desire to learn


• Willingness to work outdoors


• Ability to routinely lift up to 40 pounds


• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat software

Other Requirements:

• Ability to pass a background check.


• Ability to pass a pre-employment employment drug screening.
