Job Summary: The Incident Response Process Engineer is responsible for development of a comprehensive set of incident response runbooks that are properly integrated across multiple information security and external teams to support superior incident response conducted by the Equinix Global CERT. This person is also responsible for curation of incident response runbooks to ensure alignment of content with current organizational designs, tooling, and external processes, in addition to updating content to reflect lessons learned through applicable incident response actions and tabletop exercises. This position reports to the Cyber Incident Response Commander within the Equinix Global CERT.

This position requires superior interpersonal, communication, and technical skills, including the ability to lead discussions with internal information security teams and external stakeholders pertaining to incident response activities to capture knowledge that is required to build effective process documentation with proper stakeholder integration.

Responsibilities


  • Assisting the Equinix Global CERT to develop complex process documentation to standardize a wide range of incident response activities across multiple information security functions and beyond with the goal of providing repeatable processes that minimize risk.


  • Creating graphical-based incident response runbooks to establish roles and responsibilities across each stage of incident response.


  • Facilitating engagements with Equinix teams to discover, document, evaluate, prioritize, and assist teams in improving work processes and cross-team integrations supporting incident response.


  • Participating in incident response activities, including tabletop exercises, to record opportunities for improvement or other lessons learned related to current processes.


  • Updating incident response runbooks to incorporate lessons learned from incident response activities and tabletop exercises and to reflect changes to organizational designs and tooling.


  • Integrating information security incident response plans with higher-level organization planning, including crisis management and business continuity.


  • Ensuring compliance of team processes with established frameworks and regulations.


Qualifications


  • 10+ years in process engineering, preferably within information technology or information security organizations.


  • Exceptional communications skills (oral and written) with a history of successfully engaging with multiple levels of leadership.


  • Experience implementing processes aligned with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework.


  • Experience communicating process issues with legal, corporate communications, and governance teams.


  • Understanding of technology systems such as networks, applications, servers, cloud, authentication, and emerging technologies.


  • Experience working with information security teams such as fusion centers, security operations centers, vulnerability assessment, vulnerability threat management, security incident management, cyber “hunt,” and big data analysis.


  • Must be a self-starter, self-motivated, and able to work independently with little oversight.


  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree preferred.


  • Certifications in Six Sigma or similar standards and PMP are preferred.
