The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Boiler House Operator, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Implementing the use of the plant computerized maintenance management system for writing work orders, entering time, entering comments, researching past problems, etc. Work both individually and in small work teams (2-6 people) to complete tasks.  Ask for help as needed.


• Determining working order of equipment by troubleshooting, repair/modify, PM, check-out and/or install utility equipment including pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, bearings, pumps and other devices following repair manuals, mechanical drawings and elementary electrical/pneumatic/hydraulic diagrams. Work on equipment installed in cramped locations as well as elevated locations using scaffolding, ladders, hi-jackers, or boom truck; or on roofs of buildings, in pits, or in confined or hazardous locations.


• Supporting the plant by communicating effectively with other plant personnel and disciplines such as engineering, production supervision, production operators, etc. regarding utility issues. Follow up on repairs and make suggestions to improve/prevent maintenance related downtime. Work with other employees and visitors in a fully supportive partnering and team member relationship to contribute to overall goals of the work unit, department, plant and company.

Your Skills and Expertise 
 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

• Experience in chemical handling operations in a private, public, government, or military environment


• Must have a valid driver license license and ability to operate a company vehicle

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Satisfactory completion of a two-year minimum, full-time, post-secondary vocational school course of study, or equivalent approximating 2100 hours of course work, acceptable to 3M; or


• Provide evidence of a minimum of 5 years of on-the-job work experience in a 3M Plant Engineering related skill area or in a skill area acceptable to 3M; or


• Provide evidence of a combination of post-secondary vocational schooling and on-the-job work experience as listed in requirements (1) and (2) above, when such combination is deemed by 3M to be equal to or greater than (1) or (2) in learning experiences for the relevant craft.
