JOB OBJECTIVE:

Plans, justifies, directs, implements, and supports automated manufacturing processes for continuous improvement in conjunction with Morgan Olson's Strategic Plan.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND ACTIVITIES:

• Utilizes statistical data to establish base-line metrics, opportunity justification, project prioritization, and gauging / reporting improvement.

• Leads design and implements automated systems for use in fabrication and assembly processes.

• Leads collaborative discussions between leadership and key stakeholders to determine automation capabilities and goals

• Creates detailed road maps to guide automation projects from conception to final implementation

• Supports existing automation technology with component and process upgrades

• Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient Lean production methods.

• Develop equipment specifications with vendors to meet manufacturing requirements, and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts. Evaluate equipment according to specifications and quality standards through design reviews, and gated acceptance testing.

• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.

• Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.

• Responsibilities may also include maintaining records; purchasing; and managing budgets.

• Drives PFMEA or other Quality Risk Assessment activities

• Drives Safety Risk Assessments

• Supports and participates in Morgan Olson's PPS team efforts.

• Adheres to Quality policy by exceeding customer expectations, being customer focused and supporting continuous improvement activities.

• Adheres to Safety policies and practices behavioral based safety 100% of the time.

• Other duties as assigned.

• 10-20% travel

QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 10 years of automation related experience with a BS degree a plus

• 3D CAD Competency (Solidworks Preferred)

• Excel (VBA), Ladder Logic, programming knowledge

• Strong project leadership experience

• Automotive/Truck industry or related experience, preferably body manufacturing & assembly: aluminum forming, welding, fastening, sealing, painting, etc. (5+ years).Root cause analysis.

• Knowledgeable of Lean Manufacturing Concepts and Statistical Analysis and reporting

• Strong communication skills: Verbal, Written and Technical writing competency

• Problem solving, "go and see"

• Basic PC skills
