Sr. Process/Production Engineer at Bunge in Channahon, Illinois

Job Description:

Position Summary:

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for complex process analysis in order to drive process improvements related to quality, cycle times, and lowering overall costs in activities related to Oleochemical processing. The Senior process engineer will support any aspect of operations as required, including utilities and packaging.
Supports the ongoing development of new processing technologies and other technical improvements. This person will strive to be the expert on all processes on site. Person should have experience with and be capable of managing projects of up to $500 K with little or no direction, covering scope, timing, cost.

Core Functions:
* Evaluation of current processes versus industry standards/benchmarks.
* Implementation of process improvements and optimization of current processes at the facility.
* Interface and/or lead teams on commissioning new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processes
* Developing training documentation, SOP's as required.
* Reviewing existing data and interfacing on technical issues with others - both internally and externally
* Preparing and presenting data and reports
* Identifying corrective actions for factory related quality issues including working with cross-functional teams to resolve and implement corrective actions
* Managing and assuring workplace safety and delivery of capable assets meeting "customer" needs
* Driving process improvement projects up to and including scoping out projects, generating capital requests and managing projects up to $500K.
* Working closely with operations and quality assurance to monitor and improve the efficiency, output, quality of products and safety of operations.
* Making observations and taking measurements directly, as well as collecting and interpreting data from the other technical and operating staff involved
* Ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
* All other duties as assigned.
* Senior Process Engineer is responsible for Food Safety and Quality - Follow company Quality Systems and implement Food Safety in the design, change and operational processes as well as engineering design.

Skills/Experience Requirements:
* Bachelor's Degree. Prefer Ch or M E.
* 5+ years' experience in a variety of challenging but related environments performing process, project and manufacturing support in the food, chemical and or pharmaceutical industries.
* Detail oriented-ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task
* Systems Analysis - Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes. Should be familiar with continuous improvement techniques, i.e. SPC, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen
* Strong troubleshooting ability based on experience and methodical analysis, i.e Root Cause Analysis, CAPA
* Self-starter, strong interfacing and leadership competencies across a broad spectrum of people and groups. Ability and experience to lead teams. Strong project methodology background.
* Preferred background in food and specifically Oleochemical processing.
