The Institutional Research Analyst is responsible for gathering, analyzing data and statistics, preparing reports, and using web-based reporting systems to improve data analysis for college leadership and other stakeholders. The Analyst responds to ad hoc requests for data and information, manages, and analyzes data. This position is the on-campus subject matter expert in establishing and maintaining data definitions standards and documentation for academic data. This position requires cooperative and collaborative relationships with faculty and staff.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Coordinate with faculty data requests and research.

  • With lead faculty establish milestones for program completion and consistent data pulls for milestone courses.

  • Assist with institutional and program accreditation efforts through data gathering/ collection, and communication with stakeholders.

  • Assist with course, discipline, program, and faculty reviews.

  • Produces tables, graphs, dashboards, and narrative analysis of data to easily display and summarize college data.

  • Provide data support for grants, occupational program planning, policy and procedure decision making.

  • Assist with data validation and backup for the institutional compliance reporting.

  • Coordinate with data owners in functional areas of the institution to ensure data is accurate and complete.

  • Work with appropriate departments and staff to ensure data quality and identify improvement methods.

  • Participate in committees and in other campus wide meetings as assigned.

  • Anticipate, research, identify, and develop solutions for institutional improvements.

  • Serve as co-chair of the Data Governance Committee and participate with the Institutional Review Board.

  • Establish official data sets for use in ad hoc and annual internal operations reports.

  • Maintain documentation of changes in data definitions, codes, standards, processes, and business rules.

  • Responsible for understanding, supporting and actively demonstrating the College's beliefs, values, mission and vision and being in agreement to be evaluated by same.
  • SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIESThis job has no direct supervisory responsibilities. May guide and coordinate work of other college department employees while functioning as project manager. CONTACTS AND PURPOSE OF CONTACTSInternal: Frequent contact with college personnel within and outside institutional effectiveness department in a planning, coordinating, information sharing, problem solving, and technical specification capacity. Communication often involves confidential information. External: Contact with federal and state agencies in an information gathering, advising, and sharing capacity.Minimum Qualifications

    Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred and 3 or more years of experience with databases.

  • Associates degree will be considered when combined with relevant experience.

  • Experience with analyzing data sets.

  • Experience in records management in a higher education institution systems.

  • Knowledge of:

    Reasoning Ability Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in written, mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

    Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as state and federal regulations, application user manuals, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Must be able to communicate technical problems verbally and in written form by using teaching and communication methods that the customer can relate to. Ability to effectively present information orally or in written form.
