Now here’s the tough part, do you have the patience to teach others that complicated IT world & know how to motivate your students when someone doesn’t get it the first time? Listening to others & intuitively knowing what the solution could be based on their expression of frustrations with tech is key to success for any IT person.
The Adjunct Faculty Instructor provides subject matter expertise. Additional responsibility to teach courses, adhering to lesson plans, meeting course objectives, beginning and ending courses on time as scheduled and adhering to academic faculty ethical and professional behaviors. Quick Glance of Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages and supervises students in all assigned classroom and laboratory activities to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
Keeps students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures and attendance requirements.
Ensures each program/class contains essential curricular components, has appropriate content and pedagogy, and maintains currency. Maintains a high level of expertise in the subjects taught and stimulates enthusiasm for those subjects.
Evaluates students to measure their progress toward the achievement of course outcomes/competencies.
Teaching and Instruction
Develops, revises, and/or recommends curriculum changes which meet the objectives of the course/program and improve student learning.
Ensures that each program/class meets the WSU Tech Course Standard, includes all appropriate curricular components, utilizes effective teaching methods/practices (pedagogy) and reflects current field practices.
Plans each unit or lesson, both as to content and method. Provides lesson plans to the appropriate dean or designee. Publishes lesson plans on course syllabus.
Teaches and maintains an effective learning environment regardless of instructional modality.
Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed:
CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+ Certifications, required OR bachelor's degree in related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years' full-time work experience in industry preferred.
Proficient at configuring and repairing PC hardware as well as installing and configuring Operating System software including a variety of Windows and Linux operating systems. This should be in both a standalone and a networked environment.
The ability to work professionally with a diverse population of staff, students, administration, and others.
Organizational skills with the ability to pay attention to detail.
Demonstrates professionalism and positive work ethics.
Responsible and fulfilling commitments while promoting collaboration between day and evening programs.
