Summary of Duties:

The Clinical/Medical Technologist 1 will perform routine and emergency laboratory tests in chemistry, coagulation, endocrinology, hematology, immunohematology, urinalysis, and fluid analysis. Performs clinical diagnostic laboratory testing according to policies and procedures approved by the clinical pathology manager and director. Accurately records and reports test results and contacts appropriate personnel for tests with unusual or critical findings. Other duties will include but are not limited to, ordering and stocking supplies, training students, clerical duties, preparing documents, and data collection, analyzing, and reporting. Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills required.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology with a curriculum accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation of the American Medical Association AND certification or eligibility to take examination, with successful completion and certification within one year from date of hire, for certification with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent, or certification with specialty organization appropriate to the laboratory division OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to be available for occasional emergency situations on evenings and weekends.

  • Ability to work on-call on rotating basis.

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

  • Must have strong computer skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a diagnostic laboratory setting.

  • Experience working in an educational setting, including providing instruction to others.

  • Experience tracking disposable inventory.
