The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a Facility Coding Auditor, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Perform coding quality audits for inpatient and outpatient facility-based coding to help support quality initiatives for outsource coding customers

  • Prepare quality reporting by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends for clients, coding partners and internal staff

  • Incorporate new regulatory changes related to coding and reimbursements, as appropriate

  • Participate in new client onboarding and ongoing client relations development

  • Ability to negotiate audit requirements between customer and coding supplier

  • Provides subject matter expert guidance related to coding and reimbursement

  • Ability to resolve issues and escalates as needed

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications

  • Associate degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • AHIMA certification (i.e., CCS, RHIA or RHIT)

  • Three (3) combined years with facility coding and/or facility coding operations in mid-to large-size acute care hospital settings

  • Two (2) years of working knowledge of  ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT/HCPCS coding schemes, facility reimbursement (e.g., MS-DRGs, APCs), risk adjustment methodologies (e.g., APR DRGs) and patient quality/safety metrics (PSIs, HACs)

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Health Information Management or related field (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

  • Five (5) years combined supervisory/management experience with facility coding and/or facility coding operations and/or HIM Department operations in mid-to large-size acute care hospital setting(s).

  • Working knowledge of clinical documentation improvement programs and relationship between coding and CDI staff

  • Experience of working with Outsourcing Coding organizations

Location: Remote

Travel: May include up to 20%domestic

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized
