Laboratory Specialist at University of Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Job Description:

Our lab is interested in the study of complex digestive system disorders with a concentration on pancreatic diseases by evaluating biomarkers and risk factors found in the blood or other samples from human subjects, including proteins, metabolites, DNA and other substances. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for specimen processing and storage, maintaining various laboratory databases, transferring of samples and supplies between sites, compilation and shipment of samples to research collaborators at other institutions, monitoring of freezers, and DNA extraction. This individual will need to work with multiple research coordinators who consent the patients and obtain the specimens. Supervision will be provided the PI and the Lead Genetic Counselor, Health Professional III.

Bachelor's Degree in biological sciences or chemistry field is preferred. Equivalent combination of relevant experience and education may be considered.
