Position Description

Primary Purpose:

  • Maintain and service equipment and systems used in bulk liquid storage and drumming operations to ensure safe and efficient flow of work. Perform all work in compliance with Company standards, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, diagnose and repair equipment related to the unloading, loading, transfer, and storage liquid chemicals

  • Respond to call-out to perform maintenance duties.

  • Perform basic pump maintenance to include preventative maintenance.

  • Provide training to operators on proper operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment.

  • Maintain general upkeep and maintenance of all facilities and equipment as needed.

  • Oversee the construction and/or maintenance activities performed by third parties.

  • Maintain a work order system to track preventative maintenance and routine repairs.

  • Read and understands parts books and schematic drawings to determine repair parts needed and work procedures.

  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel and gasoline engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems to include drumming systems and drumming conveyors.

  • Repairs and lubricates machines, equipment and heavy equipment

  • Operates a variety of tools/equipment such as cutting torch, welder, forklift, hand tools, power tools (impact wrench, drills, etc) and electric meters.

  • Assist other electrical maintenance personnel in the performance of assigned duties.

  • Issue safe work permits to include general work, inspection, lock out tag out, and hot work.

  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment including but not limited to: proper storage of tools, hoses, and cleanliness of work area, proper wear of all personal protective equipment, immediately containing and reporting any spills or unsafe conditions.

  • Complete appropriate documentation and paperwork as well as upkeep maintenance files as needed.

  • Able to develop and implement successful parts inventory strategy.

  • Coordinate with Operations Administrator for all PM's, work orders and job scheduling.

  • Attend daily, weekly and monthly safety meetings.

  • Identify, report and correct safety and environmental concerns.

  • Report all accidents, incidents and near misses to the foreman or management.

  • Maintain a positive and professional atmosphere for all employees and visitors.

Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements

Certifications, licenses, registrations:


  • Ability to possess a TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credential) card.

  • Ability to obtain forklift certification.

Competencies, skills, abilities:


  • Must be proficient with the use of power tools, hand tools and measuring equipment.

  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor(s), prioritize work schedule, focus attention on details, and follow rules.

  • Must possess basic math skills, computer skills and good verbal and written communications skills

Physical Demands:


  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs, willing to work in protected areas at heights up to 75 feet above ground.

  • Must be able to work at elevations up to 75 feet.

  • Ability to perform tasks while wearing a full face respirator or supplied air.

  • Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.

  • Must be able to hear and smell for deficiencies or hazards.

  • Must be able to work in confined spaces (inside storage tanks).

  • Overtime may be required and is anticipated.

  • Previous chemical, refining, or terminalling experience is preferred.

  • O.S.H.A. Certification not required, but a plus.

  • Prior experience in pipeline operations and/or tank farm operations a plus, but not required.

  • Prior Maintenance Technician job a plus.

Working conditions:


  • Ability to work in all weather conditions.

  • Ability to work around water (dock).

  • Must be willing to work all shifts, overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed and required.

  • Must be available to respond to call-out as assigned.

  • Must be able to work with a team, take direction from supervisor, keep required work schedule, focus on attention to details, and follow work rules.
