Job Description:

Senior Quality Project Engineering, Machining

Work Mode: Onsite

Location:  Hattiesburg, MS


To implement and continuously improve corrective action activities in a manner that allows us to meet our business objectives. To work with Operations and or Suppliers in the development and improvement of processes to reduce the number of related non-conformances.

Specific Responsibilities

Lead and mentor the existing quality associates supporting operations.

  • Establish and manage appropriate quality tracking mechanisms within the operations area to drive improvement based on real time data.

  • Utilize quality data to prioritize issues to be addressed and lead all functions to establish true root cause and implement irreversible corrective actions.

  • Make appropriate cross functional decisions using quality analysis tools and critical thinking including cost / impact analysis and customer impact.

  • Lead in the development and maintenance of control plans and inspection instructions.

  • Develop and maintain appropriate controlled area for non-conforming material.

  • Provide input and work with others in maintaining a lot control process for all major components being used in assembly and traceability of those lots into finished engine serial numbers.

  • Daily production line support on making daily decisions related to product quality: serving as the voice of the customer

  • Participate in safety, cost, and delivery improvement initiatives

  • Participate in new product launch activity and training

  • Represent operations relative to the change management process.  Attend change board and spec revision meetings and be the voice of Operations.

  • Ensure adherence to applicable product compliance requirements including but not limited to the Clean Air Act, California Code of Regulations and California Health and Safety Code. 

  • Relationships and Contacts

    Supervisory Relationships:

    • Reports to the Manager of Quality and is assigned to a department on the Operations floor.

    • May supervise Quality Technicians/Inspectors

    Organization Relationships:

    • Frequent contact with:

      • Purchasing

      • Design Engineering

      • Manufacturing Engineering

      • Production.

      • Supplier Quality

      • Sales, Service, and all other functional areas.

    External Business Relationships:

    • Engines Kohler

    • Vendors


    's degree in engineering or engineering technology program OR Bachelor's degree in a related field with successful completion of the EIT exam OR a PE license;

  • Must have a technical quality background, with 3-5 years experience in working with several quality improvement methods in a manufacturing environment.

  • Advanced degree or track record of high performance, significant problem-solving and results with demonstrated competency at the prior level may be considered as an alternative to up to 2 years of work experience.

  • Proficiency in data collection and statistical analysis

  • Ability to effectively interface with manufacturing

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Must be able to manage and drive change

  • Must be able to lead, motivate and develop others

  • Must be assertive in corrective action activities

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • Preferred

    • ASQ CQE

    • Knowledge of the AIAG PPAP standards

    • Proficiency in quality disciplines: ISO, TS16949, FMEA, SPC, DOE
