Epsilon C5I (, focused on software development and systems engineering for complex command, control, intelligence and combat systems, is seeking a Software Engineer with 2-6 years of experience for work in San Diego, CA. Our ONR software team employs an Agile Scrum process to rapidly design, code, and integrate capabilities into a mature Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution. Work includes developing and integrating applications that provision and configure loosely coupled systems and capabilities which can be reused, discovered, and linked to build mission threads.

Team members are expected to support ONR fielding activities such as installations and troubleshooting on ships and in development laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, develop, and integrate software that powers infrastructure services to support data mediation, orchestration and machine-to-machine messaging
  • Migrate cloud-based software applications from Virtual Machine Deployments to Containers
  • Perform manual and automated lockdown of OpenShift and Containers
  • Refine, benchmark, and improve container performance in respect to build speed and runtime execution
  • Develop code to collect system metrics and supporting dashboard visualizations
  • Implement Role Based Access Control; manage resources; secure containers, container platform, registries, and networks
  • Implement SELinux within a Multi-Level Security environment
  • Integrate multi-functional applications into container-based support services
  • Analyze and correct code defects and assist in the deployment of fixes
  • Participate in a highly collaborative team environment, contributing to all phases of the development lifecycle using Agile/SCRUM methodologies

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or related discipline (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Engineering)
  • Two (2) to six (6) years of professional experience involving Software Design, Development, Test, and Evaluation
  • Hands on experience with
    • PaaS or server-less products (OpenShift, AWS, Docker)
    • Object Oriented Programming Languages (Java, C++)
    • Scripting and Deployment Languages (Python, Bash, Ansible, Terraform)
    • Web-development tools and technologies (e.g. JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, REST, Web Services)
    • RedHat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), AWS
    • Git
  • Ability to integrate open source tools and technologies (e.g. Jenkins, Git, ELK, Consul, OpenShift, etc.) into DevOps Pipeline
  • Implement Role Based Access Control; manage resources; secure containers, container platform, registries, and networks
  • Working knowledge and understanding of relational and NoSQL database technologies (e.g. PostgreSQL, Elastic, DynamoDB, Accumulo)
  • Ability to work individually and on team projects in an environment of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Effective written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to obtain US Security Clearance (Interim SECRET or above)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to troubleshoot technical problems in a RedHat/Microsoft mixed infrastructure environment.
  • Ability to troubleshoot networking problems in an on-premise environment as well as in AWS.
  • Familiarity with OpenShift, Hadoop, ArcGIS, OpenAM, and other enterprise in software services.
  • Familiarity with DNS, LDAP, MSAD, PKI, and other infrastructure services.
  • Experience with Robot Framework
  • Experience with Virtual Machines and Containers.

  • Regular communication (hearing/speaking).
  • Noise conditions range from very quiet to very noisy.
  • Prolonged use of computer (typing/keyboarding).
  • Frequently required to sit for long periods of time, stand, walk, and may occasionally lift and move at least 25 pounds.
  • Ability to travel by car, air or other means of transportation, if required.
