This is what you will do:

Alexion RDU is looking to build the next generation of patient-centric data analytic and application platforms. We are looking for a qualified individual whose passion is understanding how to best utilize healthcare data and platforms to drive business innovation.

The Manager Data Architecture and Strategy is a key member of the IT Team reporting to the Associate Director, Enterprise Data Architect, and has close interaction with IT business partners and business function leadership. The individual must be a self-starter with strong communication, and organizational skills who will work to become a trusted BI partner to the Alexion functions. The Manager Data Architecture and Strategy will work across the Alexion RDU enterprise to ensure that Alexion RDU data is being utilized effectively and strategically.

The Manager Data Architecture and Strategy will work very much in a consultant capacity, partnering with business stakeholders globally as well as Alexion IT management to ensure that the organization is effectively managing their data assets and utilizing architecture that makes the best use of those data assets. This individual is also responsible for understanding cross-functional business processes and unique data demands, often participating in matrix teams in solution delivery involving data and platforms. This individual will also participate in the support of data solutions and processes involving data cataloging, SOPs, Data Governance, and platform architecture.

You will be responsible for:

The Manager Data Architecture and Strategy will also be responsible for supporting IT and business-driven activities which will include the following:
  • Serves as a consultant to others on the use of the data within the Alexion RDU
  • Identify, assess, and recommend options in the purchasing or use of Alexion RDU data
  • Contribute to decision-making on whether to strategically partner with select data and/or analytical providers
  • Have a lead role in technical data governance
  • Continue to develop and maintain a data catalog of all key Alexion RDU data assets
  • Participate on multiple Alexion data-driven projects at any given time
  • Identify ways in which data and analytic partnerships can be developed and implemented
  • Work with Procurement and Business units in establishing data standards for purchasing data assets
  • Supports key data IT strategies such as Data Governance, Reference Data, Meta Data, and Data Provisioning

You will need to have:
  • 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical healthcare space
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical data, data warehousing, and technologies as well as a firm grasp on Master Data Management solutions and processes.
  • Ability to work on complex data issues related to data application and analyses requirements
  • Ability to collaborate and effectively engage with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Responsible, conscientious, organized, self-motivated, and able to work with limited supervision
  • Must be detail-oriented and possess strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize the work
  • The duties of this role are generally conducted in an office environment. We would prefer you to have:
  • A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is required, with a major in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or other related scientific or technical discipline
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Must have excellent analytical and logical thinking
  • Working knowledge of data warehousing and experience with Database technologies and concepts: SQL Server, Data lakes, Catalogs, etc.
  • Experience with data visualization tools: Qlik Sense, Tableau, etc.
