Responsibilities



Under the direction of the Supervisor of Cardiopulmonary/Respiratory and the Medical Director, administers services to ensure the delivery of high quality, efficient, effective patient care within the department. Responsible for providing care to patients' birth to elderly, performing all functions in a professional and ethical manner. Follows and is held accountable to standards of process, hospital policies and procedures, Community Cares Model and The Culture Handbook. Provides support and oversight to all staff involved in the department, providing assistance to the department supervisor with daily operations. Uses critical thinking when evaluating patient results and work processes. Demonstrates problem solving as evidenced by handling difficult situations with little or no supervision. Operates and maintains all blood gas instrumentation, performs and oversees quality control, proficiency testing, and statistical reporting. After proper instruction, must be able to operate any piece of diagnostic cardiology and respiratory or related equipment and perform any required procedure. Must be able to use independent judgment and knowledge to perform related tasks to procedures. Participates in quality and performance improvement initiatives. Fiscal activities such as waste reduction, performance improvement, compliance, accreditation, procedure writing and review and other projects performed as assigned. Performs duties within scope of practice. Accepts responsibility for specimens and practices in compliance with regulatory agencies. Maintains accountability for the specimen recording and reporting process. Collaborates with other health care team members to ensure quality patient care. Other duties as assigned.



Qualifications




ducation Requirements


  • 2 year/Associate Degree from an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Required)

Experience:

  • 1- year e xperience in respiratory care in a clinical setting including routine and critical care (Preferred)

Certification and Licensure

  • Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care

  • PA Respiratory Therapist License

  • BLS Certification

  • ACLS Certification preferred
