Overview
Title: Director, Transportation
Location: Brooklyn Park, MN
Pay: $90K - $110K/yr (depending on experience)
This role will lead an integrated, logistics management function that directs, coordinates and controls distribution, transportation, compliance, customs and logistics policies for our products from multiple points of manufacturing and outsourced partners through to delivery at our customer's locations.
Responsibilities
Set the vision, strategic direction, expectations and annual objectives for the logistics organization
Drive cost initiatives to reduce the overall supply chain cost on a per unit basis. Drive the key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve efficiency
Direct all distribution activities across multiple channels of distribution to ensure the warehouse and distribution centers performance within company expectations
Define and execute freight management strategies that encompass 3rd party truck, Kurita and rail transit modes
Manage the in-house and outsourced (3PL) distribution facilities and performance, including sourcing of new partners and transition of operations
Drive plans that ensure adequate shipping capacity is available at competitive rates, lead teams responsible for execution of customer order processing, shipping through warehouses and delivery to our customer.
Maintain and publish key performance indicators, Drive accountability within internal and external teams
Develop short and long-term plans to ensure Logistics resources and practices, at all locations, are consistent with the company's strategic goals and growth plans. Anticipate changes in business climate and ensure solutions are in place to meet or exceed them.
Drive continuous improvement (process, technology) within the Logistics functions and operational locations.
Preparation and management of all financial, capital and other corporate expenses related to logistics, forecasting, negotiation for freight and other relevant services. Execution of successful monthly/quarterly targets.
Accountable for support in management of the logistic contracts
Hire, coach and develop logistics management teams at various locations
Analyze current methods and collaboratively improve or implement new processes, workflows and technology solutions that maximize efficiency and deliver a ROI
Maintain broad knowledge of worldwide market trends on logistics issues, regulatory and customs issues and other relevant factors
Execute Fleet Management strategies and provide service to Sales/Tech Rep's to support KAI program
Maintain all regulatory required programs including IFTA, IRP, PHMSA hazmat permit, etc.
Ensure all policies, procedures and work instructions pertaining to the shipping of chemicals are followed in accordance with Kurita America ISO 9001 Quality system.
Responsible for all D.O.T (State & Federal) documentation, communication and compliance.
Performance of other duties as needed by VP, Chemical Operations
Qualifications
4 year degree in business or supply chain or relevant experience
5 years of Leadership/Manager experience
CDL license is a plus
Common Carrier (3PL) and internal fleet experience
