The Scripps Networks (a growing portfolio of entertainment and news networks) provides absorbing entertainment and objective, intelligent news as we use our own distribution platforms to serve this unduplicated national audience. We meet the audience where it is with the programs it wants.

Newsy is looking for a brilliant digital content manager that will oversee the day to day content needs of the Newsy digital platforms where the mission is to deliver news by informing and not influencing. This person will have a strong background in the news along with an understanding of OTT, web and mobile users. This individual will ensure that our viewers get the best Newsy experience, curating the Newsy.com homepage and OTT app menus, delivering topical and series-based playlists and managing special live event coverage for digital platforms. They preferably have a baseline understanding of CMS tools and content analytics. They may also assist with writing, producing or editing stories and segments for OTT and web. 

The role collaborates closely across departments within the company, from our reporting and programming teams to the networks' app developers and marketing teams, in order to best position our content for audiences hungry for distinctive, impactful original journalism. This is a chance to create, lead and organize journalism — from short news headlines to full length documentaries — for multiple platforms utilizing strong editorial, organizational and communication skills. What you’ll do:


  • Programming content within Newsy’s OTT apps' on demand menus


  • Programming Newsy's web and mobile web presence with timely, important and interesting stories that drive engagement 


  • Liaise with relevant internal departments on behalf of newsroom and editorial interests


  • Assist in coverage of major / breaking news and live events, including supporting reporters' efforts to disseminate breaking news


  • Editing existing content tailored to our OTT and digital viewers


  • May assist in sourcing images, gathering and writing news headlines and other metadata


  • Pulling analytics on content performance and making decisions based on data


  • Producing supplementary new content for social media and other digital platforms to drive impact and reach of Newsy's reporting


  • Perform other duties as needed


What you'll bring:

Skills and Abilities:


  • Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro


  • Experience with analytic tools strongly preferred


  • Experience with CMS tools preferred


  • Passion for news and the evolving TV space


  • Problem solving abilities and creative thinking


  • Strong sense of time management in order to meet deadlines and execute time sensitive decisions


  • Excellent communication skills


  • Availability to work on a flexible schedule


Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related field


  • 3-5 years digital news experience
