We are seeking an energetic individual to join our team as a Assembler III (1st Shift & 2nd Shift) in a manufacturing environment. This position will report to the Cairns Production Supervisor. Responsibilities
Performs general assembly and production duties in the leather department.
Uses various machines and hand tools to complete leather brims and shells.
Sews leather material by hand and machine.
Perform puttying and sanding of fire helmets
Perform burning and shaping of fire helmets
Perform helmet repairs/touch-ups
Assemble a variety of products or sub-assemblies of small, light to average weight parts following standard procedures.
Assemble and fit parts to close tolerances.
Requires aligning, fitting, and adjusting parts to meet operating requirements of unit.
Use of hand and/or power tools.
May perform incidental mechanical connections/assembly.
Refers to drawings, diagrams, or blueprints as guide for performing assembly tasks and training.
Reads and interprets ATO order sheets and BOMs.
Cross training in other functions as required.
Conforms to all ISO procedures and requirements.
Other general assembly and material handling tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
Qualifications
Ability to read and write, ability to comprehend and follow work, quality, and safety instructions (including shop orders, and engineering drawings).
Basic knowledge of hand and power tools including gas torch and heating/burning devices.
Adequate dexterity to reach acceptable levels of efficiency.
Ability to lift up to 20 pounds repeatedly and ability to stand for extended periods of time.
Ability to adapt to changing priorities and good disposition to interact and communicate with employees at all organizational levels.
Education Required:
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Experience Preferred:
6 months working in manufacturing
