Position Summary(Basic Job Function)

This is a temporary or an on-call position. Provides professional support. Responsibilities may include general business, science, medical, agricultural or other professional support functions. Term: Temps can work two (2) nine (9) month terms with a week break in service in between and at the end of the second term terminate for three (3) months or switch to an on-call. On-Call allowed to work 1039 hours in any twelve (12) month period.

Unit Position Summary

The College of Nursing is seeking a temporary Academic Advisor to assist with student advising. The successful candidate will be responsible for admissions, academic advising, progression, degree certification for nursing programs in the College. In fulfilling these responsibilities, the candidate will collaborate with College of Nursing faculty and staff, program directors, academic administrators, and College-based committees.

Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education, or related field. One year of academic advising and/or admissions experience in an institution of higher education. Considerable knowledge of student academic policies and advising. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and written). Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work in a team environment. Strong knowledge and ability to use Microsoft Office.

Desired Qualifications:

Two to three years of academic advising and/or admissions experience in higher education with a focus in health professions. Familiarity with MSU's software and advising systems such as Campus Solutions, ESAF, Student Success Dashboard, and Degree Navigator or similar systems. Experience developing, tracking, and reporting college student progression metrics.
