Job Description:

Located in the heart of World Golf Village, Westminster St. Augustine, a Life Care Retirement Community, is currently accepting applications for the position of Driver on a partl-time basis. As a part of the Transportation Team, this individual will schedule, plan, and organize the daily transportation service for the residents at the community over specified routes to local or distant points according to a specified time schedule. As part of the Westminster Family, this position is vital in transporting our residents to their appointments.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The CDL Driver must comply with all applicable rules, policies, standards, and guidelines related to employment with Westminster Services and its communities including:

1. Inspect company vehicles for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips.


2. Complete the vehicle “Log” after each trip or at the end of the scheduled outing.


3. Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicles at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, etc. Must be able to operate the company vehicle in all types of weather and conditions. This includes going forward and backing up long distances, around corners, and in and around very tight areas.


4. Report all accidents and incidents involving drivers or company vehicles.


5. Operate the controls of the Handicap Lift – assist residents when utilizing the lift. Secure wheelchairs utilizing the “Shure-lock” wheelchair tie down system on the bus.


6. Assist residents on and off the vehicles and during scheduled outings.


7. Safely operate company vehicle and follow traffic laws/regulations/local ordinances/FDOT regulations when operating the company vehicle.


8. Assist with the preventive maintenance of the company vehicles.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Must posses a valid CDL Florida Driver's License with a Passenger Endorsement.

Must provide a copy of a valid Medical Card (CDL) and must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspections and maintenance.

Experience and Basic Knowledge: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must possess a valid FL CDL Driver’s License free of driving violations or offences and with a "P" Passenger Endorsement. Must provide a copy of a valid Medical CDL Card. 

Physical and Environmental Requirements. The physical activities of this position

involve: Balancing, Kneeling, Reaching, Crouching, Pulling, Standing, Manual Dexterity, Pushing, Stooping, Grasping, Lifting up to 60lbs.

Sensory and communicative activities with or without prosthetics of this position are: Feeling, smelling, hearing, speaking, seeing

 An individual in this position will be exposed to: Inside environmental conditions, blood borne pathogens, respiratory infections

 Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of this position.
