Summary of Major Responsibilities

The Wellness Specialist assists in the planning, development, implementation and monitoring of company-wide wellbeing initiatives that align with the overall employee wellness strategy of the organization. This role supports the delivery of programs that create awareness and motivation around employee wellbeing and delivers tools to employees that help them adopt and maintain a healthy lifestyle. The Wellness Specialist is responsible for administering wellness initiatives and participant communications for global wellness programming.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellbeing programming to reduce employee health risks, improve employee wellbeing, encourage healthy lifestyles and increase employee engagement.
  • Participate as a primary leader of the Wellness Committee.

  • Work with vendors and other HR associates to administer wellness initiatives.

  • Serve as primary point of contact for employee questions regarding the wellness program.

  • Track employee participation and wellness incentives.

  • Draft employee communications with respect to new wellness perks or wellness programming, providing continuing education and opportunities for employee engagement.

  • Implement and/or administer wellness related activities including health screenings, lunch and learn seminars, flu-shot clinics, mindfulness classes, wellness challenges, etc.

  • Research current national wellness trends on initiatives, incentives and engagement data to assist in building innovative and relevant wellness programing.

  • Develop a network of resources and contacts to use as appropriate to bring new ideas to the team.

  • Report to work promptly when scheduled.

  • Be able to work under supervision and accept feedback.

  • Relate effectively and work respectfully with diverse work groups.

  • Ability to consistently perform well during times of increased work load.

  • Set and meet deadlines.

  • Special projects as assigned.

  • Apply knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations surrounding bona-fide wellness programs.

  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously.

  • Ability to maintain confidential documents and information.

  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects at one time under tight deadlines.

  • Ability to function within all levels of organization and at various locations.

  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance.

  • Ability to work normal schedule of Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to work in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.

  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.

  • Ability and means to travel between Exact Sciences local locations.

  • Ability to travel 5% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's Degree in Exercise and Sport Science, Health & Wellness, Life Sciences, Health Sciences, Sport Management: Wellness and Fitness or a field as outlined in the essential duties.

  • 2+ years of experience in a corporate wellness setting or involvement in building a wellness program.

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced certification in a health-related area such as health education, medical or wellness. Examples include: MPH, CDE, NCHED, CHES, CCWS. Additional certifications will be reviewed and considered.

  • 2+ years of experience designing and facilitating health education courses or programs.

  • Experience in applying motivational interviewing techniques.

  • Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions.

  • Experience working with culturally diverse populations.
