Job Description:

A Q-Specialist Total Vehicle:

• Manages, leads and delivers repeatable, long-term process and product quality solutions for new or changed products.
• Provides technical leadership and expertise for complex issues with broad departmental impact.
• Leads and drives product and process changes for complex issues that require extensive and effective BMW Group networking across multiple departments (design, quality, manufacturing).
• Leads, manages and contributes to projects to improve the systems for methods engineering.
• Manages major problems and/or technical projects with broad departmental impact in a responsible, cooperative way.
• Supports pre-series builds of new models to help identify,analyze, and drive resolution of new model specific problems (dimensional).
• Analyzes the scope of new designs by means of a systematic methods approach, with the goal being a repeatable, robust manufacturing process.
• Develops solutions to highly complex or unusual problems, which require regular use of ingenuity and innovation.
• Adheres to and administers business policies, budgets, procedures, practices and/or review of major projects and assignments.
• Supports procurement, process engineering, and design engineering in the problem solving process with external BMW suppliers (i.e.presents data or develops possible solutions, evaluates solutions).
• Promotes the principles and values of Plant Spartanburg in daily activites and future plans.
• Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving.
• Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

• BS degree in Engineering or Technical field (preferred) OR 4 years professional experience in an engineering role (manufacturing, quality or product design).
• 4+ years of product and process development experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 3+ years of experience successfully implementing engineering changes on-time for new models or packages.
• 3+ years knowledge in virtual vehicle structures (KIFA, module).
• 3+ years experience with innovative and technical problem solving in design, quality and/or process topics.
• 3+ years problem prioritization skills (i.e. launch preventing vs. launch critical problem solving).
• 3+ years Microsoft Office skills as proven through business application.
• Training in PQM, Safety, CATIA.
