Position Overview: The General Accountant is a unique role that supports different Corporate finance and accounting activities, including but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, general accounting, and treasury. The role requires an individual that has a strong work ethic, the ability to work in a dynamic environment, values teamwork, and can work with confidential information.
General Accounting:
Prepare month-end journal entries for corporate and strategic business units (SBUs)
Provide monthly intercompany transactions and provide supporting information for month-end eliminations
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations and other general ledger account reconciliations
Maintain the accounting schedules for IT contracts and insurance premium activity; additionally, provide support for sales & use tax reporting for corporate, when needed
Process travel and entertainment expense reports
Maintain the monthly capital expenditures details and provide summary details to the executive team
Invoice the leadership center monthly
Maintain quarterly unclaimed property
Accounts Payable:
Vendor management through regular master file and vendor form maintenance
Provide assistance and back-up to the accounts payable group (MRI & SAP)
Become familiar with MRI invoice processing developing ideas to help streamline the process
Process access requests/modifications for ImageNow and modify approval trees when need
Payroll:
Assist supporting the W-2 distribution at year-end as well as other payroll tax requirements
Prepare weekly prevailing wage certifications for approval by the Chief Financial Officer
Provide support to payroll, including covering weekly payroll as needed
Other Areas of Importance:
Provide assistance to cash management team during peak times. This may include cash application, debt refinancing, and bank account management
Support the gift card program management
Support the audit through pulling detail support requested by the auditors
1099 preparation and distribution
Ad hoc requests and projects as necessary
Educational & Professional Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree with major in Accounting/Finance or Business or 5-10 years of corporate accounting experience.
Expected to work independently, working under the general direction of the Manager, Accounting.
Required maturity and a high level of professionalism coupled with good interpersonal and communication skills.
