Job Overview: The Johnny Morris Wonders of Wildlife Foundation is seeking a dynamic and driven Special Events & Sales Manager to join our team! This individual is responsible for selling and meeting with guests who are interested in booking group tours or special events held at Dogwood Canyon. This person will also coordinate and direct the execution of group tours and special events.

Job Overview: The Johnny Morris Wonders of Wildlife Foundation is seeking a dynamic and driven Special Events & Sales Manager to join our team! This individual is responsible for selling and meeting with guests who are interested in booking group tours or special events held at Dogwood Canyon. This person will also coordinate and direct the execution of group tours and special events.

Essential Functions:


  • Process inquiries for group tours, special events, weddings or other functions at Dogwood Canyon and/or other foundation properties (phone calls, on-property site tours of facilities, emails, and website inquiries) promptly with documentation.

  • Meet with guests and conduct site tours of Dogwood Canyon facilities and/or other foundation properties.

  • Negotiate and prepare contracts for tours, special events, food and beverages and/or other add-on services for Dogwood Canyon and/or other foundation properties with no pricing or contractual changes made without documented change authorization from supervisor and/or directors.

  • Contract administration to include event entry into CRM and/or ticketing program, contract signatures and initial deposits, Banquet Event Orders, Facility Management Reports for all departments, Day of Schedules, deposit and payment reminders, final bill and all client collections.

  • Facilitate setups for event third-party vendors, food and beverage services, and guest transportation within the park to make sure that all details agreed upon meet or exceed guest expectations.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly event management and sales reports to be used for department coordination.

  • Prepare marketing information for annual venue, food & beverage menu and advertising materials.

  • Represent Dogwood Canyon at approved trade shows, FAM tours and events.

  • Other administrative or operational duties as assigned.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must adhere to all company/department safety standards and policies.

  • Must be open to working mandatory/approved overtime.

  • Must be open to working weekends/weekdays/nights when necessary/critical to support the business.

  • Must be able to cover shifts at affiliate Conservation Attraction properties.

  • Must have an approved driving record and operate a company vehicle if required/applicable.

MINIMUM Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education:


  • Previous group and/or special event sales experience is required.

  • 2 or 4 year degree preferred

  • Proven competency working with Microsoft Suite.

  • Experience preferred but not required working with Blackbaud ALTRU or any ticketing /POS systems

  • Any combination of experience, education, skills, certification(s) etc. will be taken into consideration

  • Must be able to work in an environment with exposure to sunlight, various animals, weather, loud sounds, low lighting, close quarters, high/low temperatures, etc.

  • Physical- Requires walking/standing approximately 20% of the time; sitting approximately 60% of the time; lifting up to 80 lbs approximately 10% of the time; stooping, forward bending and crouching approximately 10% of the time.

  • Manual Dexterity Requires the ability to operate telephones, facsimile machines, computers, and other general office equipment to record written information and maintain files.
