Job Description:

We are seeking a senior Sr. Coating Engineer to join our team in Middlefield, CT. You will be responsible to: Essential functions: Design o Strong background in thin film design, theory, and materials properties as relate to optical coating. o Well-versed with fundamentals of thin film coating design including software. Examples include but not limited to Essential Macleod, OptiLayer, TFCalc, FilmStar. Process development: o Develop processes for thin film coatings; that is convert coating design into products. o Develop methods and recipes for new materials and improve on existing coating materials. o Improve on existing and develop new methods of substrate cleaning and preparation o Utilize inhouse and external metrology tools for materials characterization and failure analysis o Hands on experience with operation and maintenance of vacuum deposition systems. Examples include but not limited to e-beam (preferred), magnetron sputtering, ion beam sputtering. • Develop standard operating procedures outlining detailed work instructions and procedures • Train and communicate with coating staff to meet BU targets • Provide support to operations to meet revenue targets • Work with marketing and sales to provide timely information. • Expected to travel to Zygo site in CA to support coating operations (upto 50% of time). • Desirable to have project management skills (not mandatory)
