The role is responsible to grow and protect our dairy portfolio to include vaccines, anti-infectives and medicated feed additive (MFA) business by developing business partnerships with identified key accounts. The account manager will lead the journey to reach and maintain mutual vision, transparency and mutual impact with assigned accounts. As a trusted business partner, he/she will be responsible for understanding the customer’s business model, needs and to facilitate the coordination of Elanco activities related to the account and Elanco account team.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in cattle or swine pharmaceutical or feed sales or equivalent selling experience
Excellent communication skills
Self-starter with high initiative and sound work ethic
Demonstrated ability to learn, apply and communicate technical/scientific knowledgeTravel Requirements:Travel will be required. Overnight travel will depend on location; expect 40% to 60% overnight travel.
Location:
Ideal location would be Milwaukee, WI or another central city in WI, MN, IN with easy access to heavy dairy populations and an airport.
Position is field based, work is in the field interacting with customers
Essential Job Responsibilities:
To grow and protect the Elanco dairy portfolio to include vaccines, anti-infectives, and medicated feed additive (MFA) business
Focus on large & influential national multi-state dairy farm customers and the consultants that influence theTo learn and utilize the using the strategic account management (SAM) key principles and consultative selling.
Embrace, spread and maximize the capability of SAM by working with customers on a collaborative vision, internal and external team coordination, communication, and design of customized solutions.
Establish long term strategic initiatives with customers; confirm pre-established value, review scorecard with decision makers and capture the value back for Elanco.
To develop business partnerships with identified key customers, prospects, and consultants accounts in a strategic manner.
Manage and influence complex customer/account decision-making process with the ability to deal well with ambiguity.
In depth understanding of the customer as demonstrated and communicated through a comprehensive strategic business plan.
Identify and assess customer needs. Uncover customer’s solvable problems and opportunities. Incorporate the Elanco product portfolio (products and services) as a part of the solution
Work with customers on a collaborative vision, internal and external team coordination and design of customized solutions.
Facilitate the transfer key messages and scientific information about Elanco products to customers.
Accountable for delivering sales results and implementing agreed to strategies and plans.
Additional Skills & Preferences:
Sales experience in dairy industry, feed/nutritional, animal health, key accounts or strategic account skills preferred
Experience or training in strategic accounts, key account management, strategic account management (SAM) process encouraged
Demonstrated business acumen
Ability to influence across multiple disciplines: ie: veterinary, nutritional, processing, feed milling, sales and marketing, and senior management, or comparable demonstrated skill.
Strong learning agility, business acumen and facilitation skills
