This is an exciting opportunity where, as the US Privacy Paralegal, you will participate effectively as member of the local management team and the global legal & compliance department. You will provide consistent, high quality legal and compliance services in privacy program development and maintenance stemming from Medtronic operations in the United States.

The preference for this role is that you reside in Denver/Boulder CO; however, you can work near any other Medtronic office location or work remote.

A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.


  • Triage issues presented to Americas privacy team, meet with privacy and business colleagues, provide direction and escalation as needed.
  • Assist in drafting and summarizing legal agreements that reside within OU
  • Complete legal research into privacy considerations or emerging laws, at the direction of US privacy attorneys.
  • Draft and maintain US privacy program materials for varied purposes and audiences.
  • Work collaboratively with Americas privacy program managers and lawyers to complete legal and program initiatives and create solutions-oriented approaches.
  • Partner with other subject matter experts across a global matrixed organization, including coordination with Security, Privacy, Compliance, Regulatory, Quality, Federal Contracts and Trade Compliance.
  • Collaborate with other members of global Data & Privacy COE to develop and implement common approaches and resources.
  • Participate in other projects as assigned or as needed.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate and 4+ years of paralegal or legal experience, including privacy experience, in a law firm, corporate legal or compliance setting; or, an advanced degree and 2+ years' experience
Nice to Have

  • Advance knowledge of US privacy and security laws and regulations, including HIPAA/HITECH, CCPA, state breach notification laws, FTC privacy enforcement actions, etc.;
  • Prior privacy experience in healthcare, medical device, or technology industries.
  • Experience providing legal support and real-world solutions for a data protection, privacy, security, or compliance function in a large, regulated, and matrixed organization;
  • Demonstrated success in drafting and maintaining various legal materials, including contract templates, privacy policies, training and awareness resources, internal presentations, and research summaries;
  • Demonstrated results orientation, like driving to meet stated deadlines, financial targets, project goals, etc.;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects and individual tasks within a matrixed or virtual organization;
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to present effectively to a variety of audiences;
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously;
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize excellent decision-making and issue-spotting skills;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills;
  • Adept at researching and analyzing complex laws and regulations and providing practical summaries for wide-ranging application;
  • Demonstrated experience building positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including with colleagues, clients, senior management, external parties/authorities, and business partners;
  • Comfort working in a dynamic environment in response to evolving privacy legal considerations and business objectives.
