Position Description:

The Associate Director, Clinical Accrual & Collaborations, will be responsible for overseeing the company's clinical accrual and collaboration reimbursement tracking processes. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and accounting skills, be detailed oriented, possess excellent communication skills, show a willingness to learn, and be a team player. This individual will play an active role in the financial close process and will be responsible for quarterly reporting of clinical expenses, liabilities and collaboration reimbursements to the CFO, Controller, and other members of management.

Position Requirements:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end clinical accrual close activities which include reviewing clinical trial expense and collaboration reimbursement accruals
• Present clinical expenses and collaboration reimbursements in management financial review meetings
• Proactively engage in process improvement, including use of automation, to allow us to become more efficient in how we prepare for and execute the close and collaboration tracking processes
• Collaborate with external auditors during the quarterly review, interim and year-end audits
• Ensure SOX compliance with internal control policies
• Partner with R&D Strategic Outsourcing to ensure vendor provided spend estimates are timely and accurate
• Work with business partners in Development and Pharmaceutical Operations to confirm accruals
• Oversee employee clinical trial project tracking process
• Develop and mentor staff

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide direction to other individuals
• Supervises staff, including hiring, scheduling, and assigning work, reviewing performance, and
recommends salary increases, promotions, transfers, demotions, or terminations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Education:
• BS/BA degree in related discipline and ten years of related experience; or,
• MS/MA degree in related discipline and eight years of related experience; or,
• Equivalent combination of education and experience
• CPA is a plus

Experience
• Experience in Biotech/Pharmaceutical industry preferred

Knowledge/Skills:
• Must have strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
• Experience working in or closely with accounting on financial close activities
• Strong communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
• Ability to build strong relationships across all levels within an organization
• Team player with the ability to work independently, proactively, and effectively under pressure
• Systems oriented, experience with SAP ERP system preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, advanced skills preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Environment: primarily working indoors
• Travel not required
