Job Summary

WSB-TV, one of the nation's leading television and digital newsrooms, is looking for an innovative, dynamic content producer to help engage and grow our audience on multiple platforms. This position will be on the front lines during breaking news and severe weather and must be willing to work in a very fast paced, demanding news environment.

This individual will be a:

• Content seeker who uses scanners, email, digital and social media to mine stories and interact with our viewers.


• Logistical decision maker who can help dispatch reporters, photographers, drones and helicopters to news and can manage video streaming channels.


• Content creator who is a great storyteller with strong editorial skills who can manage written copy, photos and videos to create stories for broadcast and digital.


• Content distributor who knows how to format content for television, website, social media and push alerts and monitors live digital metrics to gauge performance.

What we look for

• 5 years of experience in print or broadcast journalism


• 3 years of web/social media experience.


• 2 years of assignment desk experience preferred


• Local television newsroom experience preferred


• Preferred experience with ARC, Lakana or a similar CMS


• Basic knowledge of HTML code, Adobe Photoshop, nonlinear editing.


• Experience with SNG/DSNG trucks, LiveU and helicopters.


• BS/BA Degree preferably in Journalism or Communications.


• Strong news judgment, journalistic integrity.


• Possess Knowledge of general productivity software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point).


• Strong knowledge of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube.


• Strong news judgement and strong writing ability using AP style preferred.


• Possess the ability to work under pressure.


• Interact promptly, productively and positively with viewers, fellow employees and all levels of management.


• Ability to build effective relationships with commercial/product/technical teams and content creators/talent.


• Excellent verbal, written and analytical skills, with strong motivation and work ethic.


• Good organizational skills and the ability to oversee projects from conception to delivery.


• Flexibility in working hours: happy to work evenings/weekends/travel if necessary.
