Versar is seeking self-motivated, team-oriented, Environmental Engineer/Scientist with strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to support various types of customers.

Primary responsibilities will include being part of a team of engineers/scientists supporting various environmental compliance efforts, such as the following:


  • Knowledge of professional environmental principles, practices, techniques, and procedures.

  • Familiar with the Clean Air Act and Air Pollution Control Title V Operating Permit programs.

  • Able to understand and apply regulatory requirements for customer needs.

  • Maintain monthly compliance reporting which includes each significant emission source to verify that the base is not exceeding air quality standards according to the established limitations in the permit.

  • Calculate natural gas and propane consumption from all boilers.

  • Maintain generator and boiler inventory to compile operating data necessary to support compliance reporting as required in the Title V operating permit. Track usage data on permitted source.

  • Utilize the Air Program Information Management System (APIMS) as required to answer data calls and report monthly consumption of each significant source.

  • Follows all Department of Defense (DoD) policies, applicable Federal, State, and local laws, regulations, integration principles and practices.

  • Conduct site visits for compliance assessments

  • Understanding of chemicals related to classifications and hazardous reporting, EPCRA/Tier II and TRI reporting.

  • Evaluate plans and specifications for activities to determine their compliance with applicable environmental laws, regulations and DoD policies. Effectively perform project development, execution, training, and advisory services in assigned projects.

  • Attend professional conferences and meetings to maintain awareness of current air quality permitting programs and practices that have applicability to the installation and Title V operating permit.

Candidates should have working experience in the field of environmental engineering/science/assessment, and the following:


  • B.S.in Environmental or Chemical Engineering (or a related engineering field) or a B.S. in an environmental field is required.

  • 3-5 years of experience preferred.

  • Excellent computer and writing skills are a must including proficiency in Excel along with computational skills.

  • Ability to convey plans, results, implications and recommendations to clients via presentations as necessary.

  • Preferred proficiency with MS Office applications and ability to conduct data analysis (including statistical analyses);

  • Strong analytical and data management skills;

  • Strong written and oral communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; and

  • Must be authorized to work in the U. S .and capable of obtaining government security clearance and/or Common Access Card (CAC)
