Job Description:


Versar, Inc. is seeking a Real Property Management (RPM) Database Administrator to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA). This position will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance of our corporate applications. Primary work location is Falls Church, VA.

Responsibilities:


  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments, from development to mission-critical production systems.

  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.

  • Independently analyze, solve, and correct issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.

  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel, including system architects, software developers, database administrators, design analysts and information modeling experts to determine project requirements and capabilities, and strategize development and implementation timelines.

  • Review existing data architectures to determine overall effectiveness and compliance with original objectives, develop comprehensive strategies for improving or replacing underperforming areas and present these plans to managers and executives.

Requirements:


  • Demonstrated experience and a working knowledge of database administration with SQL. Must have 5+ years MS SQL Server Administration experience.

  • Advanced knowledge of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring standards.

  • Experience with the following:

    • Performance Tuning and Optimization (PTO), using native monitoring and troubleshooting tools

    • Backups, restores, and recovery models

    • High Availability and Disaster Recovery options for SQL Server

    • Working with and creating data architecture

    • Working with Windows server, including Active Directory



  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment, organize and plan independently, and multitask and context switch effectively between different activities and teams.

  • MCTS, MCITP, and/or MVP certification a plus.
