Internal Audit is responsible for providing an independent, objective assurance and consulting activity designed to add value and improve First PREMIER Bank and PREMIER Bankcard LLC’s operations. Internal Audit’s purpose is to help management accomplish its objectives by bringing a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of risk management, control, and governance processes.

Compensation and Schedule

Starting wage is determined based on prior work experiences.

Full-time Hours:

Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Training Schedule:

Paid on-the-job training!

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with experience and strong desire to learn and contribute to the PREMIER Internal Audit Team! The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and as part of an audit team. The ideal candidate should have the ability to review a process from beginning to end and recognize gaps or control weaknesses. With this position attention to detail and the ability to document audit testing in a clear and concise manner that meets Institute of Internal Audit (IIA) Standards and PREMIER Standards is required. Additional duties and responsibilities include:



  • Proactively identifies and escalates issues as needed to Auditor-in-Charge (AIC) or department management.




  • Executes assignments independently in support of department objectives and strategy.



  • Conducting audit planning activities and preparing or revising audit programs to accomplish audit objectives.

  • Performing audit procedures and preparing acceptable working papers which record and summarize audit data and adequately support conclusions.

  • Ability to take coaching notes from documentation and utilize feedback as a learning tool to show progression in documentation meeting standards and requirements such as those with the FDIC Act.

  • Performing testing of key controls in accordance with established standards and protocols to determine whether the controls are operating effectively.

  • Exercising judgment and discretion in documenting audit results and in analyzing results that support testing conclusions.

  • Preparing potential audit findings when exceptions are identified, taking into consideration the root cause of the issue and providing a realistic recommendation for enhancing internal controls or efficiency of operations.

  • Working with AIC to communicate audit test results to business unit management verbally and through audit recommendations.

  • Completing assigned audit work and project tasks in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Communicate audit concerns to AIC or internal audit management to assist in ensuring the business unit management’s efforts to address audit issues are resolved.

Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor degree preferred and 1 to 3 years of industry experience preferably in a banking or financial organization.

  • A certification and/or a commitment to pursue a certification is a plus.   

  • Demonstrated organizational, confidential, and independent work experience necessary. 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required; proficient knowledge of the structure and content of the English language is required, including the meaning, rules of composition, and grammar.

  • Conduct tasks in a manner that complies with all consumer protection regulations and treats consumers fairly.
