The Advisor is responsible for increasing student and Learning Coach engagement within the school to drive improved academic growth. The role is committed to providing consistent support throughout the student experience. The Advisor also works closely with students, families, and teachers to monitor adherence to the school’s attendance policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:   Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential duties.

Engagement:


  • Oversee a caseload of students assigned by the school to increase engagement (e.g., monitoring student log in, class attendance) through intervention (e.g., Learning Coach training, catch up sessions, time management).

  • Provide consistent proactive support to students using data resources.

  • Provide support to students and Learning Coaches through the Onboarding (Strong Start) experience.

  • Pursue and apply continuous education and training to increase efficacy with the dynamic needs of their students and Learning Coaches.

Attendance:


  • Works with teachers to monitor student adherence to the school’s attendance policies;

    • Emails, calls and sends auto-dial notices to targeted student population;

    • Recommends families to the appropriate administrator for truancy intervention meetings as necessary;



  • Works with families and teachers to develop individualized action plans to increase student attendance and engagement and to refer to service agencies as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:   


  • Two (2) years of college AND

  • Two (2) years of experience in education OR

  • Equivalent combination of education and related experience

Certificates and Licenses: None required.

OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 


  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.

  • Organizational skills, multi-tasking abilities.

  • Adaptable and comfortable in a fast-paced work environment.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Web proficiency.

  • Familiarity with the online learning experience.

  • Ability to travel 25% of the time.

  • Ability to pass required background check.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  


  • Four (4) years of college education.

  • Experience working with the proposed age group.

  • Experience supporting adults and children in learning and the use of technology.

  • An ability to learn new technology tools quickly (ex. database and web-based tools).

  • This is a home-based position that may require one or more days a week in the office as determined by the supervisor. The noise level in the office is usually moderate (computers, printers, light foot traffic). Must live in Oregon.
