Akima Construction Services is looking for an organized and detail-oriented construction professional to fill a Construction General Superintendent role for a contract with the federal government. 

Candidate will have a minimum of 10 years of experience managing the field side of construction projects (productivity and quality), with demonstrated experience using resource-loaded schedules.  We have a complete onsite management team and a full component of union craft labor that self-performs the vast majority of the construction project types the client looks to ACS to complete. These projects range in value of $10k-$350k and including everything from basic carpet and paint to heavy electrical upgrades to custom build-outs for specific government focus programs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure quality and schedule adherence of between 4-20 projects running concurrently in different stages.

• Work with Safety Manager and multiple General Foremen to ensure safe working conditions, and that work is being done in an efficient, productive manner.

• Review construction plans and schedules with a proactive mindset.

• Set production expectations and hold General Foremen accountable if goals are not met.

• Coordinate union trade/craft activities on a daily basis for all active projects.

• Document project progress, issues, and delays via email and RFIs, working closely and communicating regularly with ACS Project Manager and construction managers.

• Able to communicate clearly and concisely via email, telephone and on Teams meetings, keeping the ACS PM and project team updated on job progress, concerns and issues on a daily basis.

• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, being out on site much of the day when work is in progress.

• Must be able to read, speak, write, and understand English.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Ability



  •  Experience in managing union craft labor




  • 2+ years of experience running construction projects on federal installations




  •  Adept at using MS Outlook and Excel




  •  Ability to read, analyze, help prepare and maintain resource-loaded schedules in conjunction with ACS Scheduler




  •  OSHA-10 certified




  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a federal government security clearance​




  • Consistent with Presidential Executive Order 14042, you must be able to meet all health requirements, including but not limited to, current and future vaccination requirements for infectious diseases such as COVID-19. The Executive Order generally requires that federal workers and federal contractor employees be fully vaccinated by January 4, 2022



Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Ability



  •  Former member of a craft labor union




  •  Experience in running construction projects on a government facility




  •  Proficiency in using Microsoft Office suite of products




  •  Adept at comprehending and updating Microsoft Project schedules




  •  Ability to understand manpower forecasting reports in order to anticipate changes in staffing levels.




  •  Adept at using computers (use of a laptop computer to update daily reports for each project)




  • OSHA 40 certified
