Job Summary:

The Director of Well-being oversees the Virtua Health program to advance the well-being of all colleagues through our WE Thrive strategy. In this role, the director will provide thought leadership around well-being solutions and their impacts on organizational performance. In addition, the individual will develop, promote, implement, measure and oversee programs and initiatives aimed at optimizing the colleague experience and fostering an organizational culture of well-being. The director will act as a strategic partner and collaborate closely with leaders in multiple key departments whose operations impact overall colleague well-being. Through a deep understanding of, and support for, the Inclusion, Diversity and Equity strategy, the director will influence the design and availability of programs to provide opportunity for all internal audiences. The Director of Well-being acts as the main point of contact for all colleague well-being initiatives across the enterprise and drives connectedness and alignment; this role is central to the development of a workplace well-being culture.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsible for implementing and administering a comprehensive well-being strategy for Virtua Health via WE Thrive and overseeing implementation of well-being programming which is commensurate with the needs of different populations of colleagues and caregivers (i.e.: Peer to Peer support program and installation of Refuel Rooms). Leverages thought leadership and expertise to ensure alignment of well-being and caregiver experience efforts with organizational priorities. Oversees review and refinement of relevant strategies, policies, and procedures impacting well-being.

Partners with organizational leadership in evaluating and mitigating environmental risk factors for burnout. Leads the Well-being Consortium; integrates efforts with other departments, including but not limited to, experience, community health engagement, integrated solutions, quality and safety, marketing, behavioral health and Virtua Medical Group. Improves productivity, engagement and loyalty of colleagues by identifying barriers and working to improve stressors within the professional environment. Oversees review and refinement of relevant strategies, policies, and procedures impacting well-being.

Develops quantitative and qualitative metrics to show impact or improvements in employee engagement and wellbeing. Monitors and tracks various metrics that show the effectiveness of wellness initiatives. Researches, recommends, prioritizes and actively manages any service providers (vendors) who may be contracted for well-being services/platforms; provides ROI analyses and recommendations for consideration.

Develops effective strategies for promoting well-being initiatives including but not limited to: newsletters, program calendar, education classes and seminars, promotion of well-being related monthly national observances and general awareness communications.

Leads, supervises, and manages wellbeing team, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with subordinates, peers and leaders.

  • Effective coaching skills.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Required Education:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in a health and wellness related field. At least five (5) years of experience in developing, marketing, educating, and evaluating organizational-wide employee well-being programs.
